Some people just like to cause trouble.
As fior the bushes, tell then they are there to protect your privacy from others looking into your yard.
In most places, as long as they don't block sunlight entering your neighbours home then they have no right to ask you to cut them down.
But do check, there may be some obscure rules in your area that stop you letting plants get over a certain height

I think people sue thinking that they can get free easy money. I'm surprised the judge even awarded any money without any proof but we live in a suehappy world. As far as the bushes I can't believe that anyone would sue over not being able to see the neighbors yard . What the neighbors do isn't any of their business. I don't believe that someone can sue because they want to be nosy. If they sue you try to get Judge Judy she'll put them in their place. If I were you I would plant more bushes (ones that grow real tall).

Honestly, it's become common for people to turn to the law and police for a hangnail or an offencive word.
Mark it up as the decline of society and politely inform them that you can counter sue, especially with past frivilous suits on file. Also look into the local Free Clinic for legal advice, it may only be a few hundred here and there but it isn't right, and it's expencive over time.

Find a lawyer and ask him if he recommends an "Abuse of Process or Malicious Prosecution" lawsuit against your neighbors. This may apply if they continue to file lawsuits against you for no valid reason. In some jurisdictions, this type of lawsuit is focused on counterattacking frivolous and continuous lawsuits filed by the same person against another. Again, get yourself a lawyer who will know much better than this forum what ordinances and laws apply in your jurisdiction. Seems to me you have a very annoying neighbor. I wish you patience and luck...

OMG, youve got some real winners living next door. Man, I feel for you. Thats terrible. I would want to really get them good, knowing that its wrong, but Gawd, Id want to get them real friggen good. Id be like, you want to play, we can play.
People get sue happy, cuz if theyve made money once before doing it, then theyll do it again and again. I know some ppl here that do it. Youd think the court system would catch on.

Some people have no life and they have way too much time on their hands. They revel in making others lives miserable and living off the avails of other. Sueing someone is free money for them and they are usually raised in that kind of environment.

This trend in our society is getting out of control. I don't have an answer for you, but I'd be so pissed I'd probably do something completely immature, like throw balogna on their car, throw grease on their windshield, fingernail polish on their paint, ceramic on their windshield, too much lawn fertilizer on their grass...~Just kidding. I would be very respectful and beg them not to sue over such rediculous stuff.

I work at a lawyer's office so encounter this every day. My theory is this: People are litigious because 1) they're greedy; and 2) they have too much time on their hands.
Mostly number 1 though.

Ummmm, the next time your lab takes a poo, I know it sounds gross, but pick it up (fresh of course with a glove) and smear it under the door handles of their car doors. You can also brown bag the poo and throw it on their front porch. Then you should turn around and sue them for harrassement!!!!

Because it takes two working parents to raise a normal family in society today, and we supply our children with monetary gifts instead of the personal contact they need. Thus raising the next me generation that feels everyone else owes them.
