My kitten is almost 3 mos old. She doesn't want to eat solids. She was born in my house and her mama is still here but I have taken her away because I don't want her to keep nursing her. I have put different kinds of food for her in her dish. She will drink the water and loves to try to get human food scraps but that's about it. I'm terrified that she will starve. She just won't eat no matter how hard I try. Any ideas on how to get my baby girl to eat food? I have tried everything I can possibly can.

Thank you everyone. I don't feed her people food, she will eat scraps of it if it's in the garbage or anywhere that we're not looking. I have tried hard food, wet food and a mixture of both..she just won't eat! Her mother wants to stop nursing her because when she's around she runs and hides from her baby..plus she has to stop nursing so I can spay her. I will keep trying like you all said. Thanks again!

I think its just because she hasn't learned them yet. Just keep doing what your doing and I think it will start teaching to eat solids. I have four cats, that were all kittens when i got them, and they all did the same, just make sure they get some sort of food.

I have never known a cat to starve in the presence of food. Get some dry kitten food and just leave it in a dish. She'll get the hint before long.

It sounds like you have always offered her other choices. You need to quit giving her people food. Start by mixing her dry food with either a can food she really likes, or kitten formula. Then gradually decrease the extras, and increase the dry food.

Trust me, this baby will not starve. When she gets hungry enough, she will eat the food you put out for her. Just like kids, they test their limits. If you give into her, she will expect it always. Be strong and don't worry. She will eat.

And she has not lost her baby teeth yet...She won't lose them until she is between 5 & 6 months.

That's about the age that kittens lose their baby teeth and grow in their adult teeth. Maybe her gums are sore- see if she will eat moist food. If she does, it may just be that she's not ready to crunch the solid stuff.

You can buy "teething" toys for kittens at the pet store- my kitten just loves his. Many are made to be frozen, and the chill soothes sore gums while the toy gives her entertainment and something to chew.
