you burn more calories on the elliptical machine, not as much as these guys say you do ^^^^ i know because thats my favorite machine. Its average about 400 calories for 30 minutes. So yeah to lose weight (calories) this is the machine to use ;) Treadmill is still good though but your knee joints take a beating after time, and with the elliptical machine you glide so you dont have the problems or aches that come along with running

elipticals burn A LOT more calories. On a treadmil, you burn avg. about 20-30 calories in 5 min, but on ellypticals, u burn avg about 80-100 calories. Give or take a few or more calories depending on intesity. Going on the treadmill, however, can get your body more "fit", in a way, you won't lose more calories but u get more fit for things like running, like running on a treadmill will take away cramps that you get from running eventually. You get the idea.

Ellipticals only because it's easier on the joints. Better if you do intervals, vary the speed and resistance every minute or so. Even better if you eat clean and healthy.

i say both sucks. Try to run everyday and try to eat right. that is the best way to lose weight. Those machine will have a hard impact on your knees.

both are good cardio machines but if you want to really burn calories you have to really push yourself on either. I can burn 600 calories on ellip. in 30 mins and 650 on treadmill but, that's because I make it real hard to use both...you know increase the incline/resistance so, it just depends on how hard you are willing to push yourself on either machine.......I like both and switch off....good luck.....
