I think you should, you're young and willing to help out and that's great. Plus when you join I'm pretty sure they'll pay for you to go to college-which you can do at any point in your life, whereas joing the marines it's best to do when young and in shape. Go for it! :-D

Not really, why not get into ROTC and let them pay for part of your education.
I joined the Guard while I was in college and the extra money helped out. I think they have programs now where you can go for training during the summer and go to Reserve drills and be in ROTC.
Then you can go to the marines as an officer. Not much of a difference now but if you make a career out of the military being an officer is not a bad way to go.

WOW!!! Good question! If you are doing well in college then stay in college... But Joining the Marines can really change your life... I guess the first thing that you should ask yourself is are you willing to put your life in danger to save a fellow Marine? Other than that, you have to question yourself as to whether you you think that you can make the cut! The Marines are a tough bunch and the training will separate the men from the boys! But if you make it then all sorts of doors will open for you in the future... Not only are the Marines well respected for their fighting abilities but they are also sought after in the business world for their discipline and fairness...
If you can do it the we (the rest of the USA) will respect and honor you! But the decision is all yours because it is a tough job and expectations are high! Good Luck to you!

I took time out from college to serve in the Army, and I would advise being very careful about your decision.
I recommend waiting to join until after college. It will be much easier to finish your education this way. Trying to go back to school after being gone for a few years can be very difficult. Having a college education will also help you during your time in the Marines, whether you join as an officer or an enlisted Marine.
In any case, I find your desire to serve very admirable and I wish you the best of luck, no matter what you decide!

My son chose to finish college & then join the Army as an Officer.
He became an Ranger & plans to stay for 20 years. He wants to be at least a Brigadier General ( 1 star), he is a Captain now & next year will be assigned his university of choice as his base. He will be getting his PhD compliments of the Army. He maxed out the amount he needed to put in, in order to get maximum amount from Army.
Consider staying in college & using the military for more education, Officers with education are sought after in business world. I have a couple of friends that were Majors, & they make in the $200,000 range - they both live in half million dollar homes.
The military paid off for them. Good luck on whatever you choose.

I think it's a wonderful idea. After a certain amount of time, they will help pay for your college education. Also, they will train you in many things which can lead to great paying jobs later. I have a nephew who joined the Marines, studied communications and computers and now has a fabulous job, traveling all over the world.

How about NO!!!! If you said the Air Force I would probably say go for it, but as a Marine you will probably never get the time. You will probably spend most of your time in Iraq. Finish school and then join the service. Be an Officer and get paid more while you are at it.

Well you'll travel alot. Maybe overseas. If you plan right financially, plan for after the Marines, and keep straight anyone can come out a winner. Robert Kayosoki did, read his BIO about the Marine tour he did before investing in real estate. He's a millionaire now. Oh, plus he hated school!!

Personally no. A career in the military, although a good immidiate choice isn't that good for the far future. By all means join up- I think those who serve this country are awesome! But finish college first. After the military you will need something to fall back on, you know?

I dropped out of high school and joined the Marines, and then I joined the Air Force.
I found myself in the military, and then I went to college, and I kicked *** like I never thought I could (dean's list every qtr).
Follow your heart.
