I have always been indifferent and uncaring towards everything my entire life. I don't ever remember crying, or feeling especially happy. Even in school, I don't laugh, smile, or get angry, nor do I remember I time that I ever did. Until recently, I never thought I was abnormal, just different from others. Ever since I moved to my new school, the counsellors tell me they are worried about me--why? I have few friends, but none are close; or rather, I don't like other people. I feel quite peaceful the way I am. Am I a freak?

Some people are quite content with being alone, as long as you are not anti-social and you are not unhappy with the way you live-why change it?

Your not a freak at all, to sum it up, your just the kind of person that likes to face the world solo and you don't have a big emotinal pool. It may seem strange to some people, but I don't think your a freak.
Your school councellors are prolly saying they are worried about u because they may think u have depression, or some form of it, which may be a possibility. All of this could be stemming from childhood event you don't even remember.
See a shrink a couple of times, see what they think. Maybe a counsellor would do tho cause shrinks are not cheap, lol

We are all born with the same basic feelings. Some people, for various reasons, suppress or repress them. Yours are there, hidden, perhaps beneath a childhood trauma or a guise of 'indifference' because actually you do care so much.
To release these trapped feelings, you must see a kindly psychologist whom you can talk to and who will gently release your trapped feelings.
It has been done thousands of times, you just need a good listener to bring you out of your shyness or repression.
Don't give up seeking a psychologist you like and trust and respect.
It is the only way, trust me!
Good Luck!

I mean this as friendly advice - learn to laugh and smile - do you really want to look back on your life when you're old and think "I was indifferent?" Enjoy your life, it's the only one you have.

you're not a freak. well, if you are, then i'm one too. i laugh and smile at school and stuff, but its just an act. i personally hate being in a clasroom. i find it too constricting. so many people. i enjoy being on my own, relying on myself and just generally watching other people and not taking part. i'm comfortable being like that. if you're happy then that's all that really matters.

if somebody is offering to help you to enjoy life then take it, my partner is like you and believe me it's sad for all of us sometimes.
nothing makes him laugh much and he has little interest in most things, i put it down to his up bringing but now i think it is just his was and it's a shame as he is a great bloke!
