Healthy = Science Diet

Beneful is the exact opposite of Science Diet!! Also feeding different types of food can affect their digestive tract.

It could be the change in food...as said previously. Or it could be coincidental that the food changed and the dog could be sick. Regardless, make sure that the dog still drinks water, or you will have to keep it hydrated yourself. The runny poo - diarreah can dehydrate the dog.

Take into consideration the age of the dog, the exposure to other pets, although, some illnesses are airborn, the immunizations, and whether the dog is getting worse or better.

If the dog gets worse, throwing up, not keeping water down, then odds are it's sick. We just had a sick dog and if it's something that is in the digestive system the websites listed below can help. They offer a herbal tea recipe and info on keeping the dog hydrated, helps with upset tummy including diarreah. Look under the Parvo self help guide, as it offers help with digestive issues not limited to Parvo. This website does sell things, but they are incredibly helpful for free as well!

Otherwise, I'd just wait and see if things clear up.

You could go to a half and half of the old and new food to see if that helps. Especially if you made the change quickly. Also, Immodium and Pepto are rumored to be safe to use in dogs....but I would look those up via internet first.

Good luck

Note, i do not work for or sell for these websites, they were just incredibly helpful to me when our baby dog was ill!

First of all, you can hardly put beneful in the same category as science diet. Your dog may be suffering from a change of food tummy upset. But if it lasts for more than 24 hours you should see your vet. Your dog will do better if you stick to the science diet and don't go back and forth between foods.

I would pick up some i/d® Canine canned food. It is a Prescription Diet so you may have to contact you vet to get it. It is made by Hills so it is a good dog food. I would keep the dog on that for a few days and and then slowly transition it back onto the Science Diet food that you already have. If the "poo" becomes very runny or there is vomiting involved, please contact your vet to schedule an appointment.

It could just be the change in food. Watch it a couple of days and if no better by Monday take her to the vet or sooner if she gets worse. Is she eating normally?

the change in diet will do this.

The dog foods you mentioned are NOT healthy dog foods.
Science diet promoted by your vet promotes this dog food because they get a 40 percent profit on this food.
ANY dog food with corn as an ingrediant is not healthy.
ANYTHING you buy in your local grocery or farm supply is not healthy.
Innova, canidae, solid gold, california natural are all good all natural dog foods with no fillers.
They cost a bit more, but they eat less and poop less, in the long run you will be saving money.
You will be surprised of what is really in these pet foods
.Plump whole chickens, choice cuts of beef, fresh grains, and all the wholesome nutrition your dog or cat will ever need."

These are the images pet food manufacturers promulgate through the media and advertising. This is what the $11 billion per year U.S. pet food industry wants consumers to believe they are buying when they purchase their products.

This report explores the differences between what consumers think they are buying and what they are actually getting. It focuses in very general terms on the most visible name brands -- the pet food labels that are mass-distributed to supermarkets and discount stores -- but there are many highly respected brands that may be guilty of the same offenses.

What most consumers don't know is that the pet food industry is an extension of the human food and agriculture industries. Pet food provides a market for slaughterhouse offal, grains considered "unfit for human consumption," and similar waste products to be turned into profit. This waste includes intestines, udders, esophagi, and possibly diseased and cancerous animal parts.

Most commercial foods are loaded with preservatives, additives, by-products, fillers and sodium. One or all of these ingredients could be detrimental to your pet’s health, causing a range of problems like allergic reaction, intestinal upset, skin disease, kidney and liver failure or even worse, cancer.

Another thing the major pet food manufacturers do not tell you are that many commercial brands also contain the 4 “D’s” (Dead, Diseased, Dying, Decaying animal parts).

The fact is, when a dairy cow or a farming chicken becomes ill, they don’t dispose of the body, THEY SELL IT TO PET FOOD MANUFACTURERES! This represents millions of dollars to the ranchers of the world.

Are fillers, crude by-products, dead and dying animals, & chemical preservatives that are proven to cause disease what you really think is going to give your precious pet abundant and robust health and a shiny coat? http://www.petcaretips.net/petfood_ingredients.html

How to grade your dog's food: Start with a grade of 100:
1) For every listing of "by-product" , subtract 10 points
2) For every non-specific animal source ("meat" or "poultry", meat, meal or
fat) reference, subtract 10 points
3) If the food contains BHA, BHT, or ethoxyquin, subtract 10 points
4) For every grain "mill run" or non-specific grain source, subtract 5 points
5) If the same grain ingredient is used 2 or more times in the first five ingredients (I.e. "ground brown rice", "brewers rice", "rice flour" are all the same grain), subtract 5 points
6) If the protein sources are not meat meal and there are less than 2 meats in the top 3 ingredients, subtract 3 points
7) If it contains any artificial colorants, subtract 3 points
8 ) If it contains ground corn or whole grain corn, subtract 3points
9) If corn is listed in the top 5 ingredients, subtract 2 more points
10) If the food contains any animal fat other than fish oil, subtract 2 points
11) If lamb is the only animal protein source (unless your dog is allergic to other protein sources), subtract 2 points
12) If it contains soy or soybeans, subtract 2 points
13) If it contains wheat (unless you know that your dog is not allergic to wheat), subtract 2 points
14) If it contains beef (unless you know that your dog is not allergic to beef), subtract 1 point
15) If it contains salt, subtract 1 point>
Extra Credit:
1) If any of the meat sources are organic, add 5 points
2) If the food is endorsed by any major breed group or nutritionist, add 5 points
3) If the food is baked not extruded, add 5 points
4) If the food contains probiotics, add 3 points
5) If the food contains fruit, add 3 points
6) If the food contains vegetables (NOT corn or other grains), add 3 points
7) If the animal sources are hormone-free and antibiotic-free, add 2 points
8 ) If the food contains barley, add 2 points
9) If the food contains flax seed oil (not just the seeds), add 2 points
10) If the food contains oats or oatmeal, add 1 point
11) If the food contains sunflower oil, add 1 point
12) For every different specific animal protein source (other than the first one; count "chicken" and "chicken meal" as only one protein source, but "chicken" and "" as 2 different sources), add 1 point
13) If it contains glucosamine and chondroitin, add 1 point
14) If the vegetables have been tested for pesticides and are pesticide-free, add 1 point

She has to have a time of adjustment. Keeping consistent with the new dog food and (I know its hard) don't give her any human food, no matter how she bats her eyes at you!

Not to worry it's just liquid flatulence, that will clear up after she gets used to the change.
