I have heard it called "the hole in the soul". And it is not only females who have this fear! I have known of a few men who had it pretty badly. As in, they would stay in a bad relationship for years rather than be alone.

Not that I'm an expert, but I don't think there is an actual name for "fear of being alone". However, look up "hysteroid dysphoria" online and look up "borderline personality disorder". Both of these conditions have an element of a "fear of being alone" and a high sensitivity to rejection and abandonment.
