I've had disk degenative disease for about a year, and i'm having alot of chronic pain. Its in my upper, and lower back, and down both legs. I tryed PT, medications, heat, and ice but nothing has helped. If you have this, what are some ways to help some of the pain. Thanks for any answers.
Im 14 if that helps at all...

i am sorry for your pain and you are so young--I have a chronic pain disease myself-looks like you will always be dealing with some form of discomfort-you have to keep trying new medications-pain clinics are the best place for that.Took me 5 years to find the right medication.also if you are going to have pain issue-you need to be in some sort of councelling to deal with that-cause it does play with the mind after a while. don't expect everyone to understand what you are gooing thru--you have to work hard for yourself to get the treatment you deserve--change doctors if you need to(i have several times) til you find the right one.
KEEP A PAIN JOURNAL (SHOW TO DOC WHEN YOU GO)
LEARN MEDITATION
STRETCHING YOGA EXERCISES
WALKING
HEALTHY WEIGHT
is hard work to try and stay well-you are so young I don't know how you are going to do all this-you need to find an advocate--someone you can talk with-go to doctor appointments with you ect..
Most pain clinics have councellors right there....
I will warn you I went to 4 pain clinics before I found the right one--keep up the good fight---good luck...

Pain shooting down both legs sounds like the sciatic nerve is affected too. My brother had surgery for his degenerative disk. It fixed a lot of the problem, but he still has to take flexerall and percocet to help with the pain. He also does flexibility exercises and light resistive exercises to maintain tone and conditioning.

I suggest you get therapy from a chiropracter, and then i strongly recommend you see a massage therapist for deep tissue therapuetic massage. I guarantee the massage will help relieve not only your muscles but also alleviate the pressure and pain caused from the degenative disk. I also suggest you stretch your back alot even if its uncomfortable to do so. Try to use alternative measures but do not chose the option of undergoing surgery unless you have no choices left. I know someone who did and he extremely regrets it. Also drink alot of milk. Also every night rub icy hot on your back wear one of those back belts whenever your going to be on your feet alot so you wont aggitate the disk any more then it is. Also try to take alot of vitamins and look into herbal medicines if you believe in herbal therapy. Well i hope some of my suggestions are of good use to you. Good luck!

My husband has those same symptoms but he is 53 years old and did construction work for 20 years. You are way too young to be having those problems already. My husbands only relief is doctor prescribed strong pain meds. But get to a doctor. I think you have something else wrong because of your age. Did you tell your parents? If not then you need to..

If you desire extra 'blank and tidy' matters to do, then you definitely would wash different flooring, filth and varnish, blank home windows, have a difference round with furnishings, prepare matters in a different way, style via your kitchen and so forth Or some thing amusing, move out and store until you drop!

I have struggled with this for years. My best relief comes from keeping my core muscles-abs and back -well toned and keeping my weight stable. Best of luck-you are really young to have all this happening. I hope your Dr. has done an MRI to ensure his diagnosis is correct. X-rays have their place but an MRI is much more definitive.Exercise is the key for me.

Yes, your doctor might recommend an acupuncture professional.
I've had this for years, and acupuncture worked for me and gives me more mobility than I had for years....also tylenol works for me.
Slow stretching and yoga helps.
