I'm not talking about a meal, just a snack or something like that. Is it normal to be hungry after I go to the gym and get a good workout? I'm always full before I go to the gym but I'm hungry afterwords. Is it okay to have a snack after words? Also, what's the best exercises and ways to be able to do a chin up. I can't even do one! :( HELP ME!

Oh course it's okay to have a snack and drink lots of water to rid impurities! You've just worked your body and its used up a lot of energy. Just be smart of what you eat.
It's kind of like driving three hundred miles in your car and debating if you should give it gas or wait until it's totally out. Food is your fuel. Calories are energy.

The human body is weird.

Some bodies think they have to store energy for times when there is no food available. So the body stores just about everything even though the person is eating regularly. (Hypthyroidism)

Energy storage, that's what fat is.

Some people just eat more calories than they expend so the body naturally stores it and they get fat.

Some people skip meals and go hungry and the body thinks there is a famine so it stores whatever it can and the person can't lose weight.

Working out when you are full is not a good idea, I am pretty sure of that.

You don't want your body to have to choose between building muscle or digesting food because digesting will always win and your workout won't be very productive at all.

Let your body do one thing at a time, It seems that the human body gets confused easily!

I have always heard that it's not good to work out right after eating anyway. Remember being told to wait an hour after eating before swimming? If you ask your body to do too much at once you could get a cramp and that might make your body tense up and you'll drown, which is not what people usually want to do!

If you go to a gym then there should be someone (a gym employee) there who is trained to be able to tell you what you will need to do to do chin ups. I know that your shoulder muscles and your bi-ceps and tri-cepts have to be pretty strong but I could not tell you exactly what to do. As one of the people at the gym. They shouldn't charge you to give advice. After all they want you to get a good, safe, work out.

Good luck!

Post workout nutrition is a MUST. Take a recovery drink, like a protein shake, and maybe a banana right after working out. Then eat a full meal with extra carbs about an hour after. You'll need the carbs to feed those muscle.

If you can't do full chins, focus on doing just the negative part. Put a bench under the chin bar to place yourself on the top position then very slowly lower yourself. Keep doing this for a couple of weeks and you should be doing chins in no time. Also, lat pulldowns will help and do other back exercises to strengthen your back and biceps. Do different variations of seated and bent-over rows.

That's the time to load up on carbs-After Exercise

A sweaty workout depletes the stores of fuel (called glyeogen) in your muscles. So replenish them by chugging some OJ or eating half a bagel. And do it quickly: studies show your body makes new glyeogen most readily in the 15 minutes after exercising. if you miss that window, you might not be as strong for your next workout. To get an extra glycogen boost, throw in some protein, too-like peanut butter on crackers, or a few slices of turkey on wheat bread. protein also helps repair and build your muscles after strength training. No snacks available ? At least drink plenty of water or a sports drink to replace what you sweat out : from "Health September 2006"

On the contrary, you SHOULD eat after going to the gym. Eating within 30 minutes of a workout refuels your body when you need it most. Make sure you get some protein in there, not just carbs.

Chinups require a lot of upper body and abdominal strength. Do shoulder and bicep exercises, and make sure you always spend part of your workout on your core. You'll get there eventually!

I wasn't going to answer cause your first answer there was perfect, but I also want to add that there are theories concerning eating just before bedtime too. Some believe against popular opinion that eating b4 bed is good too because it allows your body to keep up its metabolism through the night instead of slowing down as you sleep. Good luck with ur chin ups though.
