i would say that the original 7 deadly sins are outdated... and we need to come up with a new list...
what would you say that the 7 deadly sins of this milinnium would be?
what would be a sin that you could never forgive?
mine is HYPOCRACY... i hate people who say one thing, and do something else...
a freind of mine said that his is IGNORANCE... as in someone who does not see something that is right in front of their face, and then pretends that they do not see any problems..
a scenario, or just an idea or an explination would be greatly appreciated.
this will become a series of paintings/drawings or sculptures.

yeah, i agree with you. i don't like hypocracy. but there are sometimes where someone could possibly think something you say and another thing you say is hyprocritical but really isn't to you cause you didn't explain it well and there are some gray areas with what you told them. but the things i could never forgive is murder (self-defense is okay and doesn't count), rape, sexual images or sexual content with kids (whether it's something they see or whatever) and i think that's the only things i could never forgive, but there are some gray areas with other issues we face today that i don't like, but it's not really things i could never forgive.

I definitely agree that Ignorance should be on the list.
Another sin could be Arrogance. Ignorance is not knowing and arrogance is a prideful version of not knowing. Kind of the opposite of being humble and at the same time being wrong.
Indifference could be another. People constantly become wrapped up in there own life while ignoring the suffering of neighbors in this modern day global community. A wise man once said 'ignoring the pain of your neighbor will bring suffering to your front door.' Think 9/11.
These are just a few suggestions from the top of my head but in truth I feel that some of the 7 deadly sins are actually very relevant in this day and age. Think of Gluttony and the rate of which we consume.

I think a better word than ignorance can be found to describe you friend's choice of sin, or perhaps modifying the word with "feigning"--feigning ignorance. We all are ignorant about many things. But, to feign ignorance is another matter. Not sure why this would be so deadly, however.
I would add intolerance due to ignorance. We often hate or have prejudices against cultures or sub-cultures we do not understand or even bother to try to understand.
State Sanctioned Vengeance (i.e., capital punishment)
Indifference. Not caring for the well-being of your fellow man.
Hatred.

Actually, I think the original are a good jumping off point, although I wouldn't use the word "sin", as that is a Christian concept, and I'm not Christian As to your comments, I do see hypocrisy as a bad thing. I don't think ignorance is. That's just a way of being, not necessarily intentional. To me a "sin", for lack of a better word, is something that hurts others.

I think that TIME WASTING is a deadly sin....
I don't mean just messing about for a little while or sneaking a day off but really wasting a serious amount of a very short life.
Like erm...... spending YEARS of your life trying to think of a few more modern so called sins. When generally a sin is just a matter of perspective, for example LUST (an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body)... Yea but what if she's got REALLY fantastic wobbly bits......

You've been working on this for YEARS?? How long could it take to come up with 7 new sins for our time? Here's one: 'Lack of ability to spell correctly after the age of 14'. Sorry, that's a pet peeve of mine. Don't be offended.
It's an interesting project. Yes, you should really finish it up after all this time, but good luck.

Hypocracy and ignorance are good. Prejudice. Bullying. (Maybe there could be a better word for that.) Greed is an old one, but it's still strong and up-to-date. Apathy. Hate.
Elars 1989 had good ones, too. lol.
