A Small, Toy, or Tea Cup size depending on what you think you can handle.

The Small-Medium would be good all around.

The Tiny, Toy, and Tea Cup you could carry with you instead of putting in storage while your on trips,.. if you get bags for that. But Small Dogs on some modes of Transportation will be put in the place with the luggage for the entire time your on and can emerge changed.

You would HATE to have a Medium to Large locked in a tiny space ALL THE TIME,.. they wouldn't be happy and minght snap and become violent.

There are some Dogs that will be labled some way but be a small dog,.. like a Lap Dog.

A very small dog like a bichon frise/chihuahua/pomeranian or any other small dog because if you are on a crowded plane/cars/subway nobody wants a giant st bernard (or golden or lab or any big dog for that matter) in the way. Little dogs are also alot easier to transport. Believe me though, I am not a little dog fan. In my opinion, the bigger the better!!!

i would say a small dog like a chihuahua. i had a male and he loved going places, they are easy to tote around also

dont get a big dog to travel around with. we have a german shepherd and he is 4 months right now, and altho he loves to ride in the car, big dogs need ALOT of excercise and a big backyard to play in.

A stuffed one. Go to a toy store, they have cute, cuddly ones for cheap.
Seriously. Traveling with animals can be a pain. There are Quarantine laws and health certificates that expire every 10 days. Not to mention security and ever changing airline procedures and policies. I don't think it would be fair to drag the poor animal, cooped up in a cage, all over creation.
Wait until you are more settled, please. For the poor dog's sake.

I have a shih tzu who's great with travelling; she's extremely good about staying in the car or kennel, providing there's somewhere for her to lie down, and she's not very big so expenses are reduced. (:

A chihuahua. They are small, love to travel and love to be with you. I know some truckers who travel across the country every week with their chihuahuas and they do wonderfully!

i traveled with a male doberman... no one messed with me... i was (at that time) a tiny single blonde... but if you want a "carry on" type a poodle , and yorkie are very loyal and veryyyy smart dogs. but need grooming.. another "carry on dog" is the chihuahua...less grooming.

better re-think this, most airlines won't carry animals anymore,
I don't think you can take one on the subway unless it's a working dog and alot of taxi's won't carry pets and lots of hotels and motels won't allow pets anymore

A pug! They love everyone, they are not at all nippy towards strangers, and they are small enough to carry (about 18 pounds)
