The two that immediately spring to mind are:

Chateau Mouton Rothschild 2003 (about $300 per bottle)

and

Penfolds Grange 2001 (about $200 per bottle or more)

These are the newest vintages to hit the market.

You'll have to define "mass-produced" for us, I think. Like, more than 1000 cases? More than 10,000?

At any rate, my best guess is Chateau d'Yquem for white wine, and Chateau Latour or Chateau Haut-Brion for red. Other contenders would include Chatau Lafite, Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Chateau Margaux, and Chateau Petrus.

Outside of France, there are other options. The Australian Penfolds Grange can be quite pricy. There are tons of pricy cabernets from Napa Valley, but many, like Screaming Eagle, are sort of "cult" wines -- not what you would call mass-produced. For the most part, the mass-produced wines from California top out at $150 or so for recent vintages -- a mere fraction of the prices for the others I've mentioned.

A collaboration between Robert Mondavi, from Napa, and Frescobaldi, from The Toscana, has producted the world best commercial wine, Ornellaia. Be prepared to pay some big bucks!
