4 dollars an hour for two kids sounds reasonable to me. Each kid will be charge 2 dollars per hour. Totally you can charge her 12 dollars a day.

ages 8 and 10 your monitoring not really babysitting! she doesn't make much so i'd say around a couple of bucks an hour. are you feeding them? maybe you can ask the mom if it would be okay to ask the kids if they could help with small chores for the one hour of the three that you have them.... that way everybody makes out! the children learn responsibility, you get more things done! if you don't need the money , barter..... hope it helps!

Well since you asked...what's wrong with you doing it for free? Three hrs is such a small amount of time. If you will be home with your kids anyway why charge? Not to be mean but that is the problem with the village that is suppose to help raise the child, everyone has to get paid first! Why not get paid by having a warm and fuzzy feeling inside that you did a favor for someone who makes nothing as it is?

Do research before you give a price. Next it depends on the environment and the client base. If they can afford the going rates under cut by a couple of dollars and establish your client base. Once you get your certification you too can be in the mix of things. Good Luck and get insurance and most importantly protect yourself!!

In NY (long island) you would be paid between $10 and $12 an hour. But, that is obviously impossible so most people would unfortunalty turn her down. I think I would ask for $4 an hour but that is tough for me too.

Smarten up--find out if she is registered with a supplemental babysitting funding; in PA it is CCIS. They pay in addition to what she copays...The $8 per hour might be in addition to her husband's pay or and child support etc. If she is registered then you should get paid accordingly from the agency...If $8 per hour is her pay and she is a single mom, remember she gets child support....Also for consistency in the kids lives...tell her your cut off time and make it stick...

I'd say 15 dollors a day for both of them for 3 hours. So, 5 dollars and hour.

are your kids the same age or younger? at that age they really don't need to be watched, just supervised. Could you watch her kids in exchange for something else? Maybe she could watch your kids for a day when she has off. At that age however, I'd say $20 a week.
