With modern medicine, such a procedure is both safe and painless. What is your excuse men?
(matthew 19:12 refers to castration, and yes, it really meant castration. Origen, one of the earliest church fathers, castrated himself based on this passage)

Origen was not only one of the early church fathers, but he had access to all the original texts no-one today has. Who are you folks to say he misinterpreted it!!!?

It says those who can, should. If you guys want to quiblle with Jesus about whether or not he really meant it, you can take it up with him later on when he tells you "I never knew you".

If god tells you to do it, it's his problem that the species goes extinct, not yours. Trust, and obey.

Helloooo, McFlyyyy! Yes, Jesus WAS telling them to castrate themselves. That's why Origen did it! Some of you people are patheitically ignorant. I should go into the preacher business just so I can spoon feed you the scriptures you refuse to read and comprehend.

First of all, why do you go through all the trouble to try and shoot Christians down (if that is your intention)?
My excuse is, if all men were castrated, then where would people be? The human race would cease to exist...

Origen may have been an early church father but he also was heretical in his view of Jesus being the Father,Son,and Holy ghost, the "oneness doctrine" so he was a pretty screwy guy.(with a high voice)

so lets try to get some context and tell the folks what was actually said, read.............
"10The disciples said to him, "If this is the situation between a husband and wife, it is better not to marry."
11Jesus replied, "Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given. 12For some are eunuchs because they were born that way; others were made that way by men; and others have renounced marriage[a]because of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it."
Please remember, this part "The one who can accept this should accept it." You can make the choice to live without sex, it is up to you! Or you can marry.

Jesus meant it symbolically. Origen used his own personal interpretation which led him to use his free will. Jesus was talking about celibacy. It was about the priesthood and how some men will serve him with celibacy.
Catholic Priests do follow it and are faithful to the command of Jesus.

12For some are eunuchs because they were born that way; others were made that way by men; and others have renounced marriage[a]because of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it."
Eunuch means "emasculated male - a man with no testicles. Jesus is saying that some people have physical limitations that prevent them from marrying. It is not Jesus commanding castration.

It's a choice as the scriptures says, ...."The one who "CAN" accept this should accept it." I'm sorry but I love my wife and I need my male parts,lol.... But notice the scriptures says that the Eunuchs did it for the Kingdom of God, and not for any other reason. But if a Kat want to do that, more power to ya....

Okay, this is what happens when verses are taken out of context. Jesus was not telling men to be castrated, He was saying that some men are not married because they are unable to function sexually, whether it be by medical problems or caused by other men harming them.

Deut 23:1 "He who is emasculated by crushing or mutilation shall not enter the congregation of the LORD."
I guess your 'Origen', whoever he was, isn't with the Lord now, maybe he should have read the word...all of it.
