Americans. (They want to be like Americans.) I know because my friend is very interested in studying abroad (she went to Japan and can speak Japanese very well) and her friends there say they idolize Americans. They base many things off of the US. Trust me, I know I'm right.

Do you mean, "What do Japanese people like?"
In my experience as an ESL teacher in Japan for 20 years, I'd say:
1] cute things (Hello, Kitty / Mickey Mouse);
2] alcohol (especially expensive imported whiskey);
3] tobacco (Marlboro Lights / 7 Stars);
4] karaoke (singing);
5] anything that combines several of the above.

The "likes of a Japanese"?
Do you mean preferences of a Japanese person?

Everybody's different. I'm sure being Japanese has some (though very little) bearing on what one's likes are.

Clarify your question.
