Your problem is more common than you might think. Most people believe that it's a sign of another issue, much in the same way that sneezing and coughing are signs you've got a cold.
I'm thinking that you need to seek counseling. If you can find out what is causing the "pressure" that prompts you to do this, the problem will be solved. This is kinda like draining the swamp instead of trying to trap all of the alligators.
One of the things that happen when you cut yourself is that your brain releases powerful hormones (drugs, really) called "endorphines." It is thought that this endorphine rush is why severely disabled kids bang their heads (you've seen the kids in helmets, right?)
The very same thing happens when you exercise. If you run, swim, cycle, lift, etc until you're exhausted, then push a little more, your brain releases tons and tons of endorphines. Marathon runners, triathletes and bicyclists like Lance Armstrong are nothing but endorphine junkies. Get some sort of exercise in your life, and when you feel the urge to cut, try doing this exercise until you're ready to drop (and a bit more)..

I am a recovering self-injurerer. You are not alone. There are MANY of us. I cut for 13 years before I sought help.
See a therapist. Seriously. Cutting is like alcoholism-it's a coping mechanism. The fact that you are asking for help means you are ready and willing to stop. But you need help.
There are also many boards online that you can find others like you. I'm guessing you're a teen? That's generally when it manifests. Talking with others who understand and are going through the same thing help. Just stay away from the Pro-SIers. Good luck. I'm pulling for you.

I had the same problem when I was a teenager, I think it was a form of extreme depression. I don't know what advise to give you, I just quit after a couple of years. I wish you the best of luck in being able to stop.

Go and look up "Borderline Personality Disorder" online. Self injuring is a symptom of the disorder. I think you need to talk to a therapist to get some help with this.

help with your problems or your cut?
We cannot help you with your problem, (if its the 'problem') if we do not know what it is..
Now, if its the cut..clean it and put a bandage over it..
