I have a total of 10 piercings including my tragus. It was honestly one of the least painful out of all my piercings. A hole being poked in your body usually does not feel the greatest . But the pain is often short and it does not really hurt unless you hit it or mess with it. It healed very well and never got infected. I have never had an infection in any of my piercings. Infection usually only begins if you don't not properly clean it. If infection does ever occur in your piercings you should not take the jewelry out because it could close the hole with the infection in it making it worse.

I got mine pierced about a month ago. My ex (he works part-time as a piercer) did it for me, and instead of going through the cartilage, he managed to tweak it enough so he only went through the skin part of the tragus. It didn't hurt at all, and it's totally healed up now.
Apparently it makes kind of a crunchy, popping sound if it goes through the cartilage. I didn't have a very big tragus, that's why he went through skin. He did an industrial on me a few months back, and that hurt like a mother. The tragus was actually less painful than a regular ear piercing.

of course quite a bit while its done but it throbs for like an hour or two in the morning i forgot mine was done i even went to a gig and did some light moshing and people knocked it a bit and it was fine and only hirt a bit :) don't worry about the pain because it is worth it just use sea salt and warm water to clean it - as salty as tears because i used to use other stuff before but sea salt works the best trust me oh yea and wearing headphones with a tragus piercing can be tricky sometimes

I have had my tragus pierced for 2.5 years, The piercing itself didn't hurt much, but when he put in the bar in (they do it from the underside), that really hurt. Mine took about a year to completely heal even though I was careful with it and washed it heaps, didn't try to change the jewelery but it got infected twice (bad enough to need antibiotics). The doctor told me its because cartlidge has bad blood flow (by the way, recommened saline solution rather than antiseptics as it won't dry the skin out and scar). So if you keep that in mind, go for it, I love mine, I've had it for 2.5 years now and change the rings easily, no more problems. Good luck.

18 year old girl recently had her breast pierced for her birthday. She got an infection and Necrotizing Faceitis (flesh eating bacteria) set in. She had to have her breast removed.
(Tragus is part of your ear)
