Pink paint. Dark wood furnishings. Charcoal gray flannel-like bed cover. Dark pink, black, white, orange, and/or lime green accents (sheets, throw pillows, art, vases, smaller furnishings). Think sherbet colors(pink, orange, green) with neutral anchor colors(black, white, brown).

This sounds edgy but try a medium or darker turquoise with a gloss or something to give some texture.. I'm not sure what the technique is called but you can streak glosses over paint for a shadowy look. It would look scrumptious with browns, greens, violets, or oranges. Cream would be a nice neutral and even other blues would be really nice with it. and It would satisfy a tropical theme too but it would be a little dark and have that element of mystery. Try to also consider mixing your own custom colour if you don't see what you like. I do recall someone telling me once you should mix it all at once and put it in one large tub so you don't have to keep mixing more paint as you work and risk getting slightly different shades.

Well what's your favorite color? You could always make your favorite color a more retro/vintage feel to your liking. Always go a shade lighter though you don't want your room to be too dark, and have the color of your walls take away the feel of your room. Also, pick a color that will match with your furniture.
My favorite color is green, so I painted my room a light green, and my furniture and the darker green colors of my curtains and sheets, help reflect the green color on my walls. It makes me feel happy.
Good luck on choosing a color!

I don't know about you but I once painted my bedroom a very deep red with all the trim done in alabaster. Turned out to be one of the most passionate rooms ever.

How about red? That is what I think of when I think of metro. Of course it all depends on your accessories, anything picked out for that yet, or you going to choose them as you go along after painting?

for vintage/retro/mod, do a dark purple. You can even accent it with black swirl patterns.
