i have a friend who is too embarassed to ask this question herself, and she asked me... i don't know what to say, so i am just going to ask it as a forum/poll question so that i have a well-thought-out answer that has been researched.

i have a friend who has a tattoo of a unicursal hexigram inside of a circle. it is on her back hip, where no one can see if unless she wants them to.

obviously, it is a symbol of protection in white witfchcraft, and she got it when she was having a really tough time with her ex-husband...stalking and stuff...

since then, she has researched it, and claims that it also represents "free will".

she met this really great guy, and he ffreaked when he saw it, and won't speak to her, or return her calls or e-mails.

should she leave it and hope that she can find someone that is more open-minded?

***any opinions, positive or negative are welcome,

**also, what should she cover the tattoo with? it's approx the size of a nickel.

No. People just don't understand that the hexigram isn't a sign of Satan, it's a protective symbol in Witchcraft. The people that don't accept her are closeminded, uneducated hacks, and she could abviously do much better than them. Tell her that.

Don't cover it up that is something that has meaning for you. A month ago I got a tattoo on my right arm that is a red rose and a dragon wrapped around it. I love red roses and I'm part oriental and I have always been fascinated with dragons. Recently my b/f left back to co. for a job so I called my tattoo " my b/f left me 4 awhile tattoo" You know how people say they got this tattoo cause they were drunk etc. Anyway, This guy probably got scared of her because everyone knows that symbol is related to any kind of witch craft. Hey theres other fish in the sea. Forget about him You shouldn't cover it up because of one persons stupidity. I don't care what people say getting a tattoo hurts and more props to you for being a strong women to get one so be proud of it. It represents you and an obstacle in your life that you have over come...

Speaking only about tattoos in girls, I think the well-sized, well-placed ones are great turn on. It depends also of what kind of tattoo is. Say, if my gf one day comes with "I'd like to get a tattoo on [wherever she wants to put it]", I would prefer a rose or a small pet/animal instead of a blood-dripping skull impaled with a sword.

The whole purpose of a tattoo is to make a statement about who you are, so yes, the content matters. The tattoo basically speaks for you, like it or not, and just like talking - you want to give a little thought to what you're saying, regardless of where you say it (or where you have it done). If she is so attached to it's meaning, then I'd think she would let this guy go if he was freaked out by it. If she questions it's meaning or worse yet, still doesn't know that much about it, then I'd say have it removed or changed into something else. As far as turn on/turn off, I know guys that are increadibly turned on by tats, but nudity with or without ink works for me.

I love tattoos. In my opinion, they're the most personal and intimate form of self-expression, maybe next to piercings and things of that nature. . . Anything dealing with body modification really. It takes a very confident or passionate person to get a tattoo, it's really something you have to commit to because you have to assume you'll have it forever (there are removal methods now, but still. . . ). Your friend shouldn't be ashamed of her tattoo and want to cover it up unless it's for professional (like job-related) reasons. She shouldn't wait around for a guy who won't accept her for the way her body is, and the way her past is because that's what the tattoo represents. Maybe he thought it meant something that it doesn't? I don't know, he sounds extremely close-minded to me, not worth the time.

If she really wants to completely cover the tattoo she can use stage makeup, as that is extremely strong and will cover almost anything up. Otherwise she can just use regular makeup, which might not cover it all the way. There's also this stuff called Wrecking Balm that claims to get rid of tattoos, and obviously there are laser treatments/abrasive treatments/etc. that will get rid of the tattoo permanently, but these can be expensive and time-consuming. She should be proud of her tattoo.

It depends on the guy. Some are some aren't.

Then again, it also depends on the tattoo. Personally, I love some tattoos, but then I really hate the ones some guys get of naked women and skulls and all those crappy stereotypical ones. Simply because some of them are just ugly.

I've never had a problem with a guy being turned off by mine.

A nickel sized tattoo would not turn me off...however I don't care to see a woman's body if it's covered in tattoos. I am one of these fellas that appreciates a woman as she is made and tattoos really don't do anything for me.
The issue of white witchcraft doesn't alarm me but I don't think I'd want to be involved with anyone who was into it for the same reason that I don't date christian women. I am non religious and prefer to stay that way.

Well I don't think he freaked because she has a tattoo but more about the content of the tattoo! If she's in Witchcraft she should have told him before anything was to happen. That would have saved her heart and his. Be open and honest about things like this! My bf has one on his thigh and I'm a Christian. It turned me off at first but he told me the story behind it and i Learned that it was put on him against his will! but i learned that you should really accept people with their stories if you really love them! He sees all my tattoos and I see all 8 of his! Your freind should really think about the content of what you have because tattoos are a part of you!

tattoos are pretty cool. her guy is must be very melodramatic if he freaks over a small tattoo. Dermablend has some really good tattoo cover up. there are pictures on their website. she shouldn't want to hide it for a man. she needs to find someone more open minded

I'm turned off by them.
I wouldn't freak the way that other guy did, 'cause I don't give a *$&* about religion, satan, witchcraft, etc....but I wouldn't like *any* tattoo. :)

Tell her not to cover it with anything -- if the guy can't handle the tattoo, he can't handle her past, and that's going to be nothing but trouble :(
