I was told a trick by an elderly woman a long time ago that worked great!. Lightly sprinkle regular table salt into your carpet and leave on for a day. Then vacuum and repeat the process again for about a week. It will dry up and kills the fleas and eggs no matter what stage they are in. Also you can put salt in the bath water unless they have open wounds from scratching themselves. Salt is very cheap and now is the best time to do it because of the cold weather. I have never had a problem with fleas again and it has been a few years. Just remember to do it often until they are gone because there are several stages to fleas and some pesticides cannot kill all the stages at once. Good Luck and give it a try, won't cost hardly anything.

There is a product on the market right now called 'Revolution'. It comes in a small plastic tube/vial that is placed directly on your cat/dog's skin (usually in that spot between the blades on the back). It is absorbed through the skin and into the blood stream, where the medication is then cycled through your pet's system and makes its way back to the skin surface and hair folicle. Revolution kills fleas, ticks, ear mites, heartworm, ringworm and a few other nasties, and you only have to use it once a month. It's very reasonably priced and better than flea collars and the like. I have been using it with my mature cat for a couple months now, and it has helped him regrow fur lost from flea infestations. If you're talking about a home infestation and want to eradicate the little buggers, try sprinkling some flea powder on carpets/under chair cushions and thouroughly wash bedding and clothing.

Start with a good "on the pet" product such as frontline or advantix. Then use sprays or bombs to clean out the house, and don't forget to spray down the yard. If you don't address all the areas your pet frequents, the fleas will just hang out in the "free zone" and re-infest your pet.
