My 3 year old daughter was helping me "clean" tonight- she was in the living room with the can of febreeze air freshener while I was cleaning another room. She sprayed the can at the television from a distance of about 3 inches I'm assuming- all of the liquid leaked down into the control panel at the bottom and it shorted out. Everything else that is plugged in is still working so it did not short out everything in the room- the tv just won't turn on now. Do you think it will dry out by itself or are we looking at buying a new one?

Let me first start off by saying that you have the best smelling TV on the block!... As far as the TV goes, UNPLUG IT! Let it dry out for at least a week, then try it out every day. If by 2 weeks it still wont turn on. Get yourself a nice new PLASMA. It wont smell as nice as your old one, but the picture will be superb.

Unplug it and clean it. Water itself (and moiture) dont actually hurt the circuits itself, its the electricity flowing through the moisture to places it shouldnt go that actually short things out. The sooner you unplug it the better. Theres a capacitor in there that will retain a charge so I wouldnt monkey around inside it too much. Its called a kickback capacitor because thats what you will do if you touch it.

Hi. There are electronic cleaners available (Radio Shack has some). You might try squirting some the same way your helpful little girl did (and maybe even let HER do it.) Let it dry over night. It will either work or it won't. If the TV is old and you were going to replace it, now may be the time. Digital is coming fast!
