And how much space does it require?

its great though some features (which are not too important) are missing. The best thing is it can basically open any word processing format and pdf exporting is pretty cool.

Open Office is way smaller compared (about 200MB installation file I think from openoffice.org) to current versions of Office especially the upcoming Office 2007.

My Open Office file takes up 246 MB.I have Microsoft Word, etc, and use Open Office more, like the others say, it has great features. You can save a document as a word document (MS Word 6.0) incidentally. Same with Open Office's version of Excel and PowerPoint, you can save them as a Microsoft file.

It's as good as MS office.
*** it's free world class office suite***
1. It's open source
2. Includes all the software (word processor, spreadsheet, database, ...., but it's presentation software is not good as PowerPoint.)
3. It uses open document format. allows easy file sharing between applications.
4. You can create pdf files with just one click.
version 2.0.4 is now available.
