There are many people on immigration who hate illegal immigration and I frequently see the question "What part of illegal don't you understand? Illegal means they're ciminals..." I have a question for you people who say that: In Imperial Rome, when the romans converted to Christianity, the emperor banned sausage citing it's "Pagan" roots... Protesting the Catholic church was illegal (and punishable by death) in many countries in medieval europe... So bassically what I'm asking is: If I wanted to have you executed for apostasy in saudi arabia, and you didn't want to be executed, would the excuse "What part of illegal don't you understand?" be a valid one? I mean, if a law is stupid, should you still support it?

Seriously, you people believe that the USA is the most perfect country in the world, so why do you want to have harsh restrictions (that will prevent some people from ever attaining citizenship) on becoming a legal citizen?

Ol' Sasquatch: Where else can you express your beliefs, and your "distains"? Well let's see: Holland, Belgium, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, Japan, etc. I dare say that we do not have the ability to express all our beliefs and "distains" here, remember the guyh who critisized Cheney to his face and got arrested?

Wow, now I've been referred to (incorrectly) as a Mexican, a Muslim, a Pagan and a Fascist...

The thing a lot of people either forget or don't know is that under our present laws, -most- Americans are illegal immigrants! Immigration quotas are only about a century old, and Ellis Island younger still. While I do think that someone who's already committed crimes should be apprehended and turned over to his own country's police, being desperate for a better life for one's self and family should not be considered wrong in itself. And our quotas are unfair--higher for Europeans than for people from African or Hispanic nations.

You say we think we are the most perfect people in the world. We don't think anything of the kind it is the people who want to come here that say that. They want to come because they think they will become perfect.
Many of the earlier immigrants who came though Ellis lsland thought the USA was lined in Gold also. So there are a lot of people like you that live in the world of Stupid.

Firstly, The USA IS the most perfect country in the world!!! Where else on Earth do you have the freedom to express you distain, your thoughts, your beliefs??? Nowhere!

Next, the reasons for restricting folk from any other country on Earth are the same as here in the USA! We do not want to import rapists, murders, mother rapists, gangs and morons into our country.

Come here, learn the language and the culture. Pass the test and become an American (US) citizen, and you are welcome to all of the rights allowed here.

Come here as a criminal or as an illegal, and we will deport you to the cesspool you came from!

Just my Humble Opinion,

Peace!

The U S A immigration laws are very clear. It takes time, waiting in line for your turn. Most don't want to wait, they want what they want and right now. All I've ever said is do it to the letter of the law, and the laws are very clear.

I completely and totally agree with you on the fact that Illegal= criminal. The United States of America welcomes all that wish to go through the"legal" process of being allowed to reside in this great and NOT perfect nation. I just cant understand why you would ask such a rhetorical question. Good luck with that

I'll guess white, upper middle-class, Catholic, democratic American.
It's stupid to support a law that's ridiculous, i.e. stoning women for not wearing their veils. That's why we have ways of changing things DEMOCRATICALLY!
There are a lot of "stupid" people in the penetentiary...

While some laws are necessary and absolute, some are antiquated and need to be rewritten....What I don't understand is, why have a law and refuse to enforce it? And then blame people for breaking such a law? Does that make sense? We cannot have laws, while refusing to enforce them and expect a society to follow these laws..... Slavery was a good example of a law, which was wrong and antiquated......While it was legal to have slaves, and many vigorously opposed to to overturn this law, was it moral?

I don't hate immigration - I HATE ILLEGAL immigration - if you come to this country you should not be allowed to collect any benefits from the gov for at least 5 years. You should not be a burden or sponge - if you don't think it's happening look to the DSHS here in WA State - they give away free food cards for just showing up. Then it costs me as I have to pay being a LEGAL resident....

The immigration laws in the U.S. are very lenient, when you compare them to other countries. Immigration needs to be controlled, it is not selfish of the U.S. citizens to want to control their countries future. We are not trying to block off America to the rest of the world, but just control its population growth, and if you ask me, that is the responsible thing to do.
