I live in a pretty large 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment with a girl I'm not particularly fond of whose boyfriend just came into town.. I've already walked in on them making out on the couch once (I did my best to give them plenty of warning by making noise with the door) and now I am afraid to go back out into the living for fear of what they're doing out there.

She has her own room with a door so it's not like they need to be on the couch, but I am nonconfrontational and we don't really know each other all that well so I don't want to seem prudish and unreasonable. But I also want to leave my room!!! Gahh. Help?

As to why we're living together.. I'm an undergrad transfer student and she is just starting in her grad program at the same school.. I don't know anyone here so I didn't have much choice as far as roommates. But I mean, she's not a horrible person... just excruciatingly annoying

You are gonna have to talk to her when you two are alone. If shes mature enough, shell understand that you two have to set some rules. You should be able to go out into your living room without feeling like youre gonna walk into something.

If she has her own room, then she needs to be in there, if theyre gonna mess around. Shes just disrespecting and Id put a stop to it. She needs to grow up.

Walk into the living room anytime you want. I assume this is YOUR apartment and she's the renter? But regardless of that, go about your business and tell the both of them to go into the bedroom to make out( if you can use stronger words than make do, by all mean say them). Simple! Turn something very annoying on the television, and tell them again in a few minutes, if they didn't leave immediately for her room (embarrassed, I should hope); if that still doesn't work, tell the both of them that the room mate status is not working, and she must move (or that you will move). Check your local newspaper, there are Rooms for Rent, probably less than you are paying for your share of a 2 bdrm apt.
If she moves, advertize for room mate in the paper, in a college town you won't have problems. SET THE RULES next time.

Next time they are there, turn all the lights on turn the TV on the cartoon channel and loudly tell them to go get a room. Do not be afraid to confront her and tell her if you want to see this kind of behavior, you will go sit on the porch and watch the neighborhood dogs, however, you like sitting on the couch and do not need the visual. Better yet...move.

Well, that is very rude and insensitive of them. However, not being confrontational is one thing and that is fine. But i am wondering why you moved in with someone you barely know? what is that about. I would find another place to live and quick and with someone I know something about. The world is to dangerous to just move in with people you really do not know.

Next time, bring your camera with you and snap a picture. When she asks what happend, just say, "oh I think there was some lightening". It'll freak her out and that'll be the end of that. If not, you can move on to the next step toward a profitable pron adventure.

Try putting up a dummy video camera in the lounge.

Walk out there like you don't notice them. If they continue, just turn around and stare - then take notes. If nothing it could be a learning experience! ;) j/k of course.

well my suggestion if you are non-confrontational is to just be as annoying as possible...go out into the living room and slam cabinets, talk on your cell...anything to annoy her into her room...although I might suggest the better solution to just ask if you could talk to her privately and let her know you are not comfortable with them to act like that in the common area
