Because the people who are trying to inpose their religion on you are either,
A)Muslims, who believe (though they may not say it) that anyone who isn't islamic must, as their duty, be wiped off the face of the earth! They will and have started with Israel, but when they finish with them, they will move on to the western christian world.(The Liberals will stop society from defending Israel)
or,
B)Mormons.
Muslims actually do believe that,
Someone should make a film about Islam, just like the one that was on southpark, with the caption,"This is what Muslims Actually Believe"
-A major point for that movie would be the 72 virgins thing.

A couple points to answer your question:
1. All religions have a sort of "evangelism" where they seek out "potentials" who have gone astray from a faith, and tell them to come to theirs. The reasons for this differ from religion to religion. Christians do this to save people from Hell, if the "potentials" would like to be.
2. For evolutionism, scientists have designed a theory that has no need for God, e.g. everything comes from matter, which is made of energy which in theory is true, except when you change the temperature to 0 Kelvin, which at that point all matter stops. (With this idea in mind, how do we know that the pre-universe, the stuff before the universe was created was not frozen at 0 Kelvin and therefore, God must have broken the temperature seal?)
3. Atheists also feel they do not need God. I'm not sure what Atheists believe, but I think it's just, "you live, you die, you rot in the earth." (sorry if I offended any of y'all with misinformation).
The point is is that religion (or absence thereof) is becoming more and more like a compition generation to generation, and therefore, religions are competing against one another just as people would against themselves.
Sorry if I was not much help.

You might get a lot of flames with this question, but I'll answer it seriously.
I'm an atheist, and basically, I have no problem with what other people believe. I'm fully of the mindset that you believe what you want to believe, and likewise, let me believe what I believe. (And I'm glad to see that you are of the same mindset.) However, the vast majority of overtly religious people that I've met do not operate this way. They try to force their beliefs on me, and since I have quite a bit of patience for this, inevitably they get frustrated with their lack of success in converting me, and so get increasingly condescending (and that's putting it nicely). Therefore, if they are going to tell me that my beliefs are wrong and why, and in such a way that shows me they have no respect for me, then I have no problem responding in kind with why I think they're beliefs are wrong (otherwise I wouldn't be an atheist), and why, and also explain to them why their whole method of critical thinking is flawed. This inevitably leads to me ruining whatever "basking in the glory", as you put it, the person I'm debating may have.
As for the reason I think religious people try to force their beliefs on others? I think it is an ingrained part of their religious tradition. I think originally it was a way for a religion to survive and keep enough members, but now it has become a way for them to flex their muscles so to speak. Its a way to show their power and to try and use it. And that, unfortunately, is just a nasty side human nature.
So to boil it down, I see it as I'm defending my beliefs, and at the same time, fighting against an oppressive tradition that exploits one of the worst parts of human nature. Hope that helps some...

If you propose the Roman Catholic faith you are also kind of pushing a religion on another.
Let people find there own path and what is right for them.
Just because someone is not catholic or religious doesnt mean they dont believe in something that feels right to them.

Well I believe that I speak about religion because that what the bible says to do! So If I don,t then I,m not listening or acting upon the Bibles words.
As far as other people and why they are so against a God- I can only say that there are as many reasons as there are people who don,t believe.
I always teach to other people what the bible says. Not my words but the bibles word.

Odd. I asked a similar question to an atheist a while back. His answer was astonishing and very compassionate. He told me that he didn't try to convince others that there is no God, because he had nothing better to offer them. He believed that if faith in God gave someone hope, it was wrong of him or any other atheist to try and take that hope away. Peace.

RC all the way man! And yes we don`t need to convert people, God does it. We just live the best we can in a moraless, secular society. This is the modern persecution...Rome did it and now the secular world does it...funny though...we are still going strong and always will thanks to the Holy Spirit. Peace of Christ be with you.

Okay, you are asking:
"If you are not Christian...why must you claim there is no christ or god. Why can you not just let us bask in our revelry?"
The answer lies within your question.
As a Christian, you have the right to claim there is a god. That is part of what defines your belief system.
As a non-Christian, I have the right to claim there is *not* one. That is part of what defines *my* belief system.
You cannot prove me wrong, I cannot prove you wrong. We are stalemated as far as that goes.
BUT we *both* have the right to make our claims.

i do believe in God and also Jesus ( although not in the way portrayed in the bible )
but i have always welcomed questions regarding my faith
this can do two things for me
it can make me stronger as i question my own beliefs and realise that i am right in thinking what i do
or it can point out things that need altered or changed in my beliefs
and i do not see what is wrong with that
so bring on the doubters xx

Its because jesus told us to go out and preach the truth. about 99% of the religions out there are hypocritical and say but dont do. they dont follow the bible as it should be done. and if we were to find something that we are doing wrong, we are humble enought o change that, like the cross thing.
