the guy is telling the woman he can't date her because of his religion...he tells her that "it has nothing to do with who you are as a person, or because you're not attractive".

does he mean "because you're not attractive (ugly)" or does he mean "it isn't because you are not attractive" (meaning he thinks she's pretty)

Um, yes. "You're" is a contraction for "you are". It's ( it is) not because you are not attractive. Even if she wasn't (was not) atrractive, he's (he is) saying it's (it is) for a different reason ( religion).

I think its to do with religion and not looks.
