I want to learn as much as I can about the history of it's translation from aramaic onwards, the history of the 'versions' of the bible and what 'versions' truly mean to the text, the history of the division of the Christian church into it's endless variety of interpretations, practices and beliefs (Catholic, Anglican, Protestant, Baptist, Orthodox, etc) and the Jewish faith in the same regard (orthodox, hasidic, messianic, etc). You know, nothing big...LOL

There are no longer any memories of Hitler of the Holocaust interior the Hebrew Scriptures (in spite of in case you are able to examine it in in basic terms approximately each respected background text fabric). The Jewish Scriptures are the comparable as what Protestant Chrsitians call the "previous testomony," in spite of if we've them in a various order. the hot testomony is the Christian Scriptures, no longer element of the Jewish Scriptures in any respect. Revelation isn't element of the Jewish Scriptures. Israel has no longer had a King for approximately 2000 years. while the Messiah comes, he will rule Israel. Jesus is beside the point to Jews.

You might try Halley's Pocket Bible Handbook. I don't know if it's in depth as you are looking for, but it has some very good insight into the compilation of the bible and how the books we have in our bible got there in the first place.

cbcg.org has a newly published faithful translation of the New Testament and commentaries. Very valuable book for New Testament study and understanding, plus the commentaries offer valuable historical info.
