The only difference might be in the amount of air you "drink" along with the beer.
I'm somewhat experienced in beer-drinking and have never found an-ounce-a-minute, use of a straw, a bottle or a can, chugging and a break... to make a difference. I believe that the greatest influence upon the effect of beer is whether or not one is using it as a chaser!
Back to your question: I'd expect more burps from a can.

Many of the higher quality beers come only in bottles, although the newer nitro beer cans are a really great idea. You are less likely to taste the bottle than a metal can. Whether bottle or can, it usually tastes better if poured into a glass or mug - my favorite serving method is to pour it into a mug I've kept in the freezer.

I think that beer in the bottle is colder, and don't have a metal taste to it.. I hate beer, but if I drink one, it has to be bottled...

Some people say cans give beer a "metallic" taste. I never noticed that with Foster's lager or Guinness pub draft. With good beer, you lose the aroma if you do not drink from a glass.

Beer from a can tastes like crap and only old crusty men should engage in it.
Have SOME standards! : )
Beer in a bottle just tastes better to most people.

Beer in a bottle is colder, and beer in a can tastes like aluminum.

Though I do agree with you that alcohol is a drug, a depressant actually, it's nothing at all like popping 3-4 sudafeds. People drink alcohol recreationally, it distorts their perception... mine too, I'm no hypocrite, I drink all the time. People take sudafed to treat symptoms of an illness, like a fever, cold, or flu. It's like comparing apples to oranges. And obviously comparing alcohol to crystal meth is a bit of a stretch... it can be addictive and even degenerative, but nowhere near the degree as with hard core drugs like meth, coke, heroin, etc.

When you drink from a bottle, you can blow across the top to make a great whistling noise. Practice moving the shape and angle of your mouth, and you can learn songs that will entertain while you and your friends grow drunk!
