I am pretty active, but currently on a hiatus from running after finishing my 3rd marathon in 1 year. I have a history of anorexic and bulimic behavior and I am worried that I am starting to develop similar tendencies because I cannot run right now. I am really needing to lose about 10 pounds and I don't know what I should do to make that happen. I drink tons of water everyday, eat pretty healthily and generally take pretty good care of myself.. Please help. I do not want to start starving myself again because I knw that only gets me temporary results...

What makes you think you need to lose 10 pounds? If you have had problems with anorexia and bulemia, throw your scale out the window. Don't worry about your weight. Continue to eat 3 healthy meals per day, drink plenty of water, and exercise daily to maintain tone and conditioning. If you can't run, try swimming or cycling.

Make small, gradual changes and over time, they will have an extremely powerful effect on you.

Check out http://www.obesitykills.iconfessional.com . The guy there is an ex-Marine, like myself, and he's putting together a program for himself in his blog that will get him back into shape. It will work for pretty much anyone and he's doing it all publically.

He's not selling anything, just sharing what he's doing as he does it. He's hoping for encouragement and motivation from his readers.

Hope that helps.

Why do you need to lose 10 lbs? It sounds like you need to get back to counseling or go to an Overeaters Anonymous meeting. Those are free and ask for help.

If you feel you must lose weight, consult a doctor. They always have the best advice. If you want to exercise but not run, try just walking. It's great exercise.
