Other than giving them a map out the country what does the country do for anyone ?

what does the Gov. of Mexico do for his people? Nothing but, terror because people from that country cannot point their finger to someone that is selling drugs or has kidnapped someone because they would end tortured and beaten to a pulp. They cannot trust the police because if they are called when there is suspicious activity going on, they usually take their time to get there. Which makes you wonder that they are in it too, which most of the time it's true. How do I know? I read their newspaper and every day you can see that they always find somebody dead and they do not know how, when that body is all bloody and beaten, and they always have their hands tied behind their back. I live this side of Nuevo Laredo Tamps. Mx. which is an irony because My hometown is Laredo, Texas. I wish we did not lived so close where there is always violence going on there.

Thanks to you all for showing total and complete ignorance of anything to do with Mexico, other than the drug wars along the border, which would stop tomorrow if we stopped the insane war on drugs.
I am in a small village in the mountains of Puebla. There is a local government hospital, it is completely free. Treatment; surgery; everything costs them not a cent. I can even go there free. I did when I got bit by a dog and we were unable to identify it, so I got free rabies treatment.
The government universities are very cheap, not totally free since there are books to buy, but very cheap.
There is a small living expense that poor, older people can get. In Mexico City, both the metro and the metro bus are free for older people.
Also, for poor country people, there is a subsidy for electricity. My latest bill for the last two months was 201 pesos, less than $20 USD, for 251 Kwh. The cost of production was 731 pesos, less than $70 USD, and the government paid the difference.
I read an editorial last summer in the Puebla newspaper, that virtually all the money for social spending comes from Pemex, the Mexican petroleum/gasoline company. So much that most of the gross income (NOT NET INCOME)from Pemex is taken for social issues. And, since taking most gross income is really dumb, Pemex actually does not have money for modernization and other things to assure future success.
The government also builds and repairs roads, and except for paying for gasline to Pemex, people pay no further gas taxes.
Water systems, as poor as they may be.
I realize since I am not an expert on Mexico, this is a very short list. However, it shows that those who say Mexico does nothing for Mexicans are totally wrong.
By the way, until recently, I always used the bus from the border. Every time a bus leaves the interior for the border area, a government produced video is shown on that bus to the passengers, urging them not to try to enter the United States illegally. They show men and women wandering in the desert, and show them dying and plead with them not to try it. I bet you guys are totally unaware of this, right??

It now only gives them a map out of the country, it provides area where they can stop and rest and get sustenance on the way out so they don't die in the process. Mexico knows they cannot beat us in an all out war, so they are trying to bankrupt us and take ober by sheer weight of numbers. Doing a pretty good job so far.

Not doing enough the Mexican economy to grow and the people to prosper. If the Mexican economy was as close to good as the US, only illegal immigrants from other countries except Mexico would try to come in the US. If the Mexican economy was as strong as the US, then the Mexicans will be burden with illegal immigrants from other countries as well.

Nothing if your not rich and corrupt. The Mexican government has got to go. The EZLN is probably mexico's best hope.

nothing, not a damn thing. they starve them, their under payed. they are left to really fend for their self's. no help from the gov. and the fricken drug lords don't give them a choice. they have to make money some how, and take care of their family's.
we need to go in there, and take the country and hand it to the citizens of Mexico.

Exactly. But anyway...yeah, I'm not sure what the Mexican government does for their people. To hear the actual Mexicans themselves tell it -- not much. Maybe their government should execute them for treason. Naughty citizens of Mexico...saying their nice presidents don't do anything for them. haha

Nothing... but why does that matter...
If you are not mexican you should not worry....
and for those of you who will say that we should worry because of illegal immigration blah, blah blah....
There are far worse things that are hapenning out there, for you to worry about this... and remember not all illegals are mexican...
so the questions should address all the governments that drive out their people...
