This is an old military trick. The Muslims start rumors that it was the American government who pulled off the attacks-just to get some of the heat off of them. Some of those terrorist groups have been nearly destroyed since 9-11.

The government may have done it so that it could more easily convince people to give up freedom for the sake of protection. That way, the government would have more control in people's lives. Let's face it, martial law could go into effect at any moment because of the 'war on terrorism'. I'm not saying that the government did it, I'm just saying that that would certainly be a good motive.
