I can't stand cats. Why do middle aged 'single and loving it women' love them? If you want a true companion, get a dog. You won't find a more loyal creature. Cats ruin your furniture, jump on your counters, cough up on your carpet and then when you're ready to pet them, they turn and walk away. Then, when you're trying to kick back and relax, they put their a$$ in your face. They jump on your chest, then start backing up like the shuttle trying to dock with the internation space station. Damn cats. Worthless.

By the way, does anyone want my cat? He's an orange tabby; very friendly.

My cat is nothing like you describe. And I'm no where near middle-aged. Single, yes if you mean not married. Loving it, not really. But I am in a good relationship. And my guy loves my cat. Doesn't even bother him when she wakes him up when he stays over.

I would take your cat if I knew where you were and you were close enough for me to drive to get it.

Actually dogs can be just as bad if not worse than cats, my neighbor had this dog(poor thing got hit) and he chewed the furniture, pee'd in the house among other things, and cats are the most wonderful little pet you can have, isn't it better that you get an independant creature? Or would you rather have a larger animal following you everywhere, live with your cat and enjoy his/her company, because I bet more than anything that when you lose that cat you'll be devestated, at least I hope so because all animals are precious, it's people that get animals then get rid of them because they dislike them and that's why there's strays everywhere, love and treasure your cat because you have a privelage of owning one that not everyone gets.sorry for ranting but i am a major cat person.

I am not much into cats either. You cannot leave anything on the benches as they can get up on anything and I love the wild birds coming and feeding so would not have a cat because of that. My mother in law had a cat that one night when we were there for dinner and she was cooking chops under the griller, jumped up onto the edge of the griller (which was only open a few inches) and hooked a chop out with its paw. It grabbed the chop and shot through with it. That definitely put me off cats!

I am not a cat person by nature. I like them and all, but unless it's just the right cat, I wouldn't want to have it around. I have Abbey-Normal.. I choose her when she was 5 weeks old. Her eyes are what caught my attention.. and there is not enough money in the world that would cause me to give her up. She has all of her claws, and is so damn annoying.. But other times, she homes in on my emotions, and is there for me.
I have dogs, and I adore them! I will always have at least one dog, always. They are always with me..
But my Abbey..she's something else. She's a challenge.. we'd be lost without her.

I am NOT a cat person.. unless the cat is mine .
I did make it clear that I am definitely a dog person, yes...

There are lots of redeeming qualities in cats for those who wish to see them. It isn't only single and loving it middle-aged women who love them. I'm married, young and have 10 cats in my home. I tried having a dog, but it kept peeing everywhere. When it hiked its leg and peed on my life-size plush tiger (a half an hour after I took it for a walk) and then tore up my sofa, I gave him back to his original owners. Never had those problems with my cats.

Now, my cats, on the other hand, are the most loyal companions I've ever had. When my husband and I argue, our oldest cat tries to break it up. When I'm sad, my cats come over to me to offer comfort. They will physically attack any stranger that I don't personally invite into the house. (I'm not kidding--my landlord doesn't come over anymore unless he's absolutely sure I'm home.) When I'm sick, my cats lay on me and purr--like a living heating pad. They keep small bugs and other critters out of the house. And I have one that likes to answer the phone and mess around with telemarketers. My cats are leash-trained and come when I call them. They are loyal and obedient, but only because they love me.

Cats, unlike dogs, do not give love to anyone who offers them food. Their love and loyalty must be earned and maintained. For those that have no patience, a cat is a very poor choice for a companion.

Well first of all I have a dog and two cats. The dog is a pain in the a s s. Contently needing something..need to go out..needs to be played with..need to be walked.needs a bath..my cats need nothing except their food dish fill. Cats are far easier to care for and are much more enjoyable. One of my cats loves to kick back with me and would throw this computer out the door if he could so he could sit on my lap! They are NOT worthless..

Very funny question. HA-HA!

However, if you happen to be at all serious, many men also like cats, including my husband, brother and friends.

Cats are easier to train to use a litter box, don't require you to put newspaper on the floors of all your rooms untill you have the time to "train" them to go outside. I have two cats, both of whom prefer to take care of bodily functions outside, and all I had to do is show them the litter box, scratch the litter a little, and they got it.
I have never owned a cat who embarassed me by "riding" my company's legs, jumping all over anybody with muddy feet, or liked to chew bones and left them all over the house. I have never had to buy a "Cat Bed" because, being cats, they sleep wherever they want.I don't have to pay to board them in a kennel when I go away, because they are independent creatures who only need someone to come in and feed them. Like alot of dogs, my cats are sensitive to my moods, are good company, and aren't too heavy to sit on my lap. Since they're not always in need of attention, like most dogs I've had, I don't have to feel guilty going to work and leaving them alone, and I have never had to walk them in all kinds of weather, using a "pooper scooper!"

Serously though, I love almost all animals, and my favorite was a french "lop eared" bunny.

There are no redeeming qualities to cats and I don't know why exactly that lots of women like them. They aren't even good mouse catchers. I'd take a snake for a pet over a cat anyday.

cats saved millions of people from the plague by killing rats that spread the disease.. they save thousands of dollars worth of crops by killing mice..
mine dotn jump on my counters or cough up on the carpet (only cats on crappy foods do this)...

dogs are too needy for me.. I want to come home and be left alone.. a dog is too demanding...

plus I have a donkey and donkies are notorious for killing dogs
