I get an error message reading:

---------------------------
Error Deleting File or Folder
---------------------------
Cannot delete iTunesSetup: It is being used by another person or program.

Close any programs that might be using the file and try again.

I have already deleted I-Tunes and Quicktime from my computer, and checked the Task Manager to make sure no processes that I recognize were associated with I-Tunes. Am I missing a process from the Task Manager or are there other files that use I-Tunes that are preventing me from removing the ITunes Setup Icon from my desktop?

I already removed both I-Tunes and Quicktime from "Add Remove Programs", I tried to right click and delete (I'm not a Noob), I checked the properties and it's not read only, and I made sure that there are no processes running THAT I RECOGNIZE that might be associated with it.

go to Start, Run, type in msconfig, go to the startup tab, scroll thru and find that program, uncheck it, close it out and restart pc, then delete it, it may just be running in the system tray too, if it is, right click and close it out, then delete it, Cant delete anything that is running , even if in the background

Sounds like iTunesSetup is acting as virus, so you can't delete it. It is probably running something in the system tray so it is always ready for you to use it, not an actual virus.

You should have not deleted the files, because you didn't get all of them (or you wouldn't be having this problem). You should have Uninstalled the program so it will clean out the registry any, dll files in the Windows directory and other files that are not necessarily in the iTunes directory.

Your error means that a program is running or it could mean that the file folder or a file inside it is marked as Read Only on your computer. A Read Only file can be changed through the properties menu, that you get when you go into Windows Explorer and right click on it. This is a safety function to make sure that critical folders or files are not changed or deleted.

You should have not deleted the files, because you didn't get all of them (or you wouldn't be having this problem). You should have Uninstalled the program so it will clean out the registry any, dll files in the Windows directory and other files that are not necessarily in the iTunes directory.

You should really reinstall the program and then uninstall it properly though Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, or through it's own uninstall program, which is the better choice

If that doesn't work then go to Start > Help > pick the search tab and enter "Safe Mode" then search for it. This will tell you how to start your computer in Safe Mode. Then restart your computer, when the Bios has loaded start pressing the key to put it into Safe Mode (typically F8), don't hold down on the key, or you will get a keyboard error. Just keep pressing down on the key until your Safe Mode choices appear.

In Safe Mode only the bare bones of the Operating System are loaded. You can then select the icon on the screen and right click on it and pick Delete to remove it from your desktop then, because the program files that start it running won’t be started in Safe Mode.

If you use this last method you will not have removed all the files associated with iTunes, but the remaining files will be small ones. Having them on your machine may not cause you any problems, they won't affect your disk usage or disk space by a detectable amount, but if you do this with several programs then your Windows directory will get full of trash that you cannot delete, unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing. Some dlls and other programs are shared by common operations. The Uninstall or Remove operation will know which files can be safely deleted. If the Add/Remove Programs uninstall routine comes up with a questionable file it will ask you if it should delete it. Most of the time this is safe to do, but if you don't delete them then it won't cause any harm. If another similar program uses that dll file though it could prevent that program from operating properly.

Go to your control panel (start - settings -or control panel ) then look for the ADD or REMOVE PROGRAMS icon and once it opens look for i-tunes click on it, and click on remove and that should be the end of that . but i all ways go to seach for files and have that little dog sniff around for hidden files cause i-tunes have some pretty sneaky people that like to get in your pc without you noing and usualy have some files that will be left behind. if there are some right click and hit delete. (search ) is in your start menu

Restart Windows in safe mode, delete the file and then restart Windows.

Note: it's better to uninstall program the proper way, through Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs.

You are right - the other programs that are running the tunes are preventing it. I would just make a folder and put it in there. Make it Q-Tunes...lol...just joking. Take it to another file then if you want to burn it or set-up again you have it. I always save my set-up files. That way I can burn them and I have them when I need to format.
Take Care ;-)

First you may disable this technique from working for the time of boot up, to try this, on the run instant, style " msconfig", click on start up up tab, click on disable all, then restart your computing device. you may no longer have any issues deleting it after this!

Reboot and try to delete it again, then you may have to try to do a desktop clean up if that dont work.
