Ok, so I am considering cutting my hair. It is long (close to my elbows) I am kinda bored with but afraid that if i cut it I will miss it being long. I think my long hair makes me knida unique and it i get it cut it might just look like everybody elses. Ive never had short hair but i like the idea of low mainenance and new hair styles i could do. If i did cut it i think i would go to about shoulder length. My hair is medium blonde with some layers right now and i have swept across bangs. Sooo.... if anyone can tell me their opinion on short vs. long and if you ever cut your long hair, did you like it or did you regret it? I would appreciate pictures of specific hairccuts you could suggest. Sorry this is long, i just really want advice.
Thanks everybody!

and do you know organizations that you can donate your hair to to make wigs? i have heard of them but dont know any specifics and if i do cut my hair i would like to donate it.

Your hair is not what makes you special. Your personality is what makes you special. Any way i think that if you cut it you should keep the bangs but maybe just cut your just below your shoulders, or get it cut into a bob. whatever you make sure your absolutely positive about doing it before you do. also donate it if you do so that even if you don't like the cut at least your hair contributed to a good cause. Just remember its only hair and it grows back

I used to have long hair like yours and then I got bored with it (like you are) and I cut it. I didn't regret it at the time, but then I got bored with the short hair since it took some time to style. So I dyed it. That was a few years ago and now I'm in the middle. I have long hair again and it's dyed. Anyway, my advice is that if you cut it to shoulder length, keep it all one length until you get used to it. Then if you decide to add layers or whatever, it won't be as big a shock! (It's shocking, especially the first time you wash it!)

If you really think that you want to cut your hair, then do it little by little. Get a few inches cut, try it out. Do you like it? Let them cut a few more. If you do it a little at a time, then it's less likely that you'll miss your long hair. If you don't want to keep going back to the salon, than just tell them your situation, and I'm sure that they'd let you sit there for a minute and figure out just how much you want cut.

After the initial shock, (and it will freak U out a little when U first do it), I believe U r gonna love it. I wore mine long for 25 years. One day I just got tired of all the time it took to keep it clean and then to style it, I just went for it. My first look in the mirror, I almost passed out. I couldn't believe I had went thru with it. But, I love it so much more. It's so easy to take care of. My head feels 10 lbs. lighter. Now, I can't see why I waited so long. In other words, do it.

a little past shoulder length would be a really cute way to not go to drastic and still be able to donate your hair.. i wouldnt go any shorter or else just, ew.. i hate women with butch hair cuts... My hair is almost to my elbows and i keep it there... just with a half inch cut so often,.. I persoanlly love long hair if its beautifully kept and not straggly or messy.

there's an organization called locks of love you can donate to. i would go for a layered shoulder length hair cut, that way its not drastically short so you won't miss your hair too much.

keep it or donate to Locks of Love

Hair grows back. If you are interested in donating your hair for a good cause thats really great.

www.locksoflove.org

Also look at this website for encouragement on making the change:

If you decide to keep it, then use hair accessories like head bands and head scarfs, or clips. And try wavying it or straightening it or something. For ideas on hairstyles look at fashion/hair magazines.

I once had hair down to my waist, and whacked it all off... now I'm growing it back out. Short hair, for me, is too much trouble to keep styled with work, 3 kids, husband and seven katz. Think about "ease in keeping" when you are deciding.

You can donate hair here: www.locksoflove.org , but I'm sure there are others.
