I know they have bases such as in Iraq. But are they like the navy do they travel around the wotld and have Bases such as in Japan.

No. The Coast Guard - protects US coasts only. The Navy does though.

I believe that the Coast Guard which was assigned with the US Navy has been reassigned to the Department of Homeland Security, I assumed that the Coast Guard only guard the United States of America and its' territories.

not sure, but i know i met a lot of coast guard guys while deployed to iraq, so i know the must have a base there somewhere.

No, the Coast Guard is a part of the Dept. of Transportation.
They are U.S only. They are not part of the Navy.
