What is Benadryl?

Benadryl is an antihistamine. Diphenhydramine blocks the effects of the naturally occurring chemical histamine in the body.
Benadryl is used to treat sneezing; runny nose; itching, watery eyes; hives; rashes; itching; and other symptoms of allergies and the common cold.
Benadryl is also used to suppress coughs, to treat motion sickness, to induce sleep, and to treat mild forms of Parkinson's disease.
Benadryl may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

Sure, adjust the dose for a pediatric. You can buy the kids Benadryl and use that if your dog is small. You should know hom much the dog wieghs so you can compare it to a similar sized human.

Our vet recommended children's Benadryl for the dog's itchy skin. She said we could use either the liquid or the pill. We tried both and ended up preferring the pill because we could hide it in a little homemade "ravioli" made from an American cheese slice!

I hate to tell people this but canned food actually has fewer preservatives than dry food because the canning process is the main way the food is preserved....HOWEVER, if you feed a low quality food like Alpo, Purina, Pedigree, Science Diet, Iams/Eukanuba, etc it is VERY likely that they contain harmful preservatives and other ingredients like chemicals, fillers, by-products, etc. IF you feed a high quality canned food like Innova EVO 95% meat formulas, you can be reassured that you are feeding your pet nothing but human grade cooked meat supplemented with vitamins and oils. There is no difference in feeding this food than cooking a chicken yourself other then you don't have to find the time and clean up the mess afterwards. So, to answer your question...feeding canned food is not bad because a human grade meat diet is really good for dogs.... Just DON'T feed low quality canned food because that is where the dangers lie. Hope this helps.

I took my dog to the vet and $120.00 later I was told that it's just an allergy, and I should give him 50 mg. of Benadryl whenever his cough gets bad. That's two capsules. He weighs 70 lbs.

No. Look what's in benadryl. Side effects could be very serious and dangerous for your dog. Ask your vet for more information!

NO! do not give your dog Benadril, if he is having problems consult a Vet. Human Meds are very hard on animals some animals systems cannot handle the meds and can be very fatal
