Ah Jennifer I feel for you! I have battled strep throat on and off my whole life and know the agony you are going through.

What works for me is to gargle with warm salt water (about 1 tsp to 4 oz of water) don't swallow just gargle and spit.

Chloraseptic spray works nice and then lots and lots of ibuprophen.

And warm tea, loosens the throat and can provide some pain relief too.

Feel better.

The warm salty water works well if you gargle with it 3-4 times a day. Also (I apologize if this sounds thoroughly gross) you can take a Q-tip and knock some of those white spotted colonies off the back of your throat, if they are getting large enough. Be sure and gargle with salty water or Listerine afterwards.
Other than that, get a lot of sleep this weekend. It's time to put your feet up and cocoon a bit. Let other people take care of you. If this continues, you might want to consider getting your tonsils out.

Try 'Throat Coat Tea' by Traditional Medicinals. You can find it in most health food stores, but even my Albertson's carries it. It helps a lot! You can also take Ibuprophen, if you're cool with taking pills. But my favorite is Throat Coat with some honey in it. The herbs in the tea are really soothing, and it's warm going down which also soothes.

gargle with salt water or use those sprays. The penicillin should kick in soon. Be sure you take all of it! I had several cases of step and I waited too long to get it treated. I ended up with rhuematic fever and a heart murmur.

Hot drinks are always good.Since it is the season try some warm cider, add a little honey. I'd stay away from warm drinks with dairy in it though...personally for me it irritates my throat. But thats just me. Hope you feel better soon!

My Doctor told me to gargle with Listerine, it hurts really bad and it makes tears roll down my checks. I still do it and it relieve's the pain alot to where it is tolerable. If you can not handle the Listerine straight try diluting it with some water.

Clean your system out - castor oil, enema, or prune juice. This will not only rid you of the sore throat but will start you on the road to being better - not just feeling better. Colds and sore throats mean your body is full of germs. The cleansing will help rid the germs.

Technically, milk is bad for your throat. But ice cream sure does make it feel better when you eat it! Also, have tea with honey. Rest a lot. Talk as little as possible and softly. Hopefully this will make you feel better!

Try gargling with warm salt water or disolve an aspirin in warm water and gargle with that. Ibuprofen might also help with the pain.
