ask your piercer, they should give you instructions. alcohol & hydrogen peroxide can actually damage the healing tissue. I have always been told to use antibacterial soap 3-4 times a day and use warm salt water a couple times a day to clean off any "boogers". do not attempt to spin or move the jewelery untill you clean/wash it. and what ever you do.. if you arent washing it DONT TOUCH IT! You have no idea how many germs you have on yoru hands...

When you go in to get your lip and eyebrow pierced, the piercer will give you detailed instructions on how to clean the piercings. If not, then you should seriously think about going to a different artist.
DO NOT USE Alcohol, peroxide, or any kind of ointment like Neosporin. Neosporin will actually trap bacteria in your piercing and cause infection(contradiction huh??). Alcohol and peroxide will damage the healing skin of your piercing and possibly cause scar tissue along with rejection of the piercing.
The best thing to use on piercings that are not oral is liquid antibacterial soap. I used Dial when I got my industrial and my hood piercings. Wash with it twice a day and use a good saline solution to keep it moist and help wash bacteria away in between washings. You can usually buy products like H2Ocean at the piercing studio. Otherwise, it's safe to use plain saline solution that you find on the aisle with the contact solutions.
I know that the antibacterial soap will work for the outside part of your lip piercing but I'm not totally sure about the inside. They will probably have you rinse with diluted Listerine anytime you put anything other than water into your mouth. Just like they recommend when you get your tongue pierced.
Good luck!

don't ever use rubbing alcohol it the the worse thing for a piercing. Only use peroxide to get the crusties off the metal, and rinse it off quickly. Don't over clean it. Over cleaning is bad too. 2xs a day, in morning and night. sea salt soaks 1x a week
For the lip piercing use Listerine and only Listerine, after all meals.
Use only 100% natural soap, non of that anti-bacterial stuff. Ivory works best.
Don't let others play with it, and don't play with it yourself. Don't let your tongue play with the lip ring. It will lead to REJECTION

They didn't give instructions when you had it done? anyway, use whatever antibiotic ointment you have or are able to use if you have any infection but you should clean often with peroxide. Really get in and around the piercing. This may be a little strong for the lip so you may want to water the peroxide down a little for the inside. If you find it drying just put a little ointment on at night. Please clean the jewelry often in pure peroxide or alcohol and let it dry before putting it back in. Good luck .

Bactine, that first aid antiseptic liquid. Buy a big bottle of bactine. Use it with something other than a cotton ball. The fibers will get stuck in the ring and it could get annoying. I just doused some TP with Bactine and cleaned it three times a day (my nose). Rubbing alcohol works as well but it is too drying.

I got my helix pierced and they gave me a bag of sea salt and told me to put it in lukewarm water and then put the piercing in the salt water. It cleaned my ear well.
