Okay, I have studied this stuff in college and outside for my own knowledge and enjoyment. Most educated people, most probably being scientist or others involved in fields that require deep contemplation, exploration, and comprehension are non-believers. I don't expect the average Joe to understand the complex processes of the brain. However, one should have a degree of common sense, which leads them to understand human nature.

Making everything either black or white is obviously foolish when it comes to certain philosophical issues. It seems that Christians tend to place things in black and white so that it fits into their neat little doctrines. Unless science has taken a stand on an issue, it is usually up for debate. However, taking the preferred route for your own beliefs and self-assurance is certainly not the correct path. One should take the path of reason and not the one that leads to foolishness.

There is all this fuss about free will yet no one wants to accept that we do not consciously choose what action to take. How many factors play into our actions? If it only were free will, then why would our biological make-up have such an impact? Genes wouldn't matter right? If they have an influence at all, then obviously free will doesn’t exist in these terms. Would you kill someone? No right? What makes a killer kill? If you have free will why don’t you go out and kill someone? Something stops you right? How are you different from that serial killer? These factors play apart in that actions we take, they should not merely be smudged away with the words, ‘free will’.

I know many Christians can’t even explain free will in a biological manner. Do you realize that your ‘forgiveness in Jesus’ doctrine clashes with the idealism of inescapable sin? Why would killing someone be an acceptable sin; but disbelief based on reasonable and logical knowledge be unforgivable? Wouldn’t that be another form of sin? But why am I saying all of this? I have no faith that I will ever meet a Christian that reasons with me instead of taking the path of foolishness.

Of course allansc20. That was the first thing that intersted me in the human brain in the first place. Also, I tried to find the right medication for my disorder so I studied the medications and compared them all. I'm quite the dictionary when it comes to that.

The brain with all it's receptor cells and transmitter cells and eletro chemical transmitters is still a huge enigma to medical science. Yes the process is much more understood than it has been but the why it works the way it does is still lost to science. What makes a thought in this mass of chemical and electrical impulses is beyond science and may never be known completely. All this does change the difference between good and evil. How can you tell me there is shades of gray, Think about it. Exactly how much pollution do you have to mix into pure water before you would no longer want to drink? Even you have your absolutes. I hear a lot about how many scientist are non believers yet no one ever gives up a name. Here I'll give you one for you yo consider since you seem very impressed with people of letters.. Dr. Charles McCombs is a Ph.D. Organic Chemist trained in the methods of scientific investigation, and a scientist who has 20 chemical patents, and a believer... You seem to hold education up as a badge of superiority to Christians who just believe. To bad your bubble is popped by someone like me that knows God didn't leave us without reason for faith.... The Brain is a Fascinating Study.
When I found out that there were Two Sides, Left and Right Hemisphere, that Really Wowed me Out.
Then I found out that the Left half is Hooked to the Right half.
Left---logical
Right---dreamy,creative,emotional

If the Tostestrone Wash isn't Complete if the baby is agonna be a Male, the Left is hooked up more to the Right and the Male becomes more Emotional.
Fascinating I Think.
I have been Told and Read that all Fetuses start out Female.

"But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things-and the things that are not-to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him." 1 Cor 1:26-29

This passage would explain why the majority of "educated" people are none believers, they chose to glorify themselves and the knowledge they have obtained instead of God.

I have yet to come up against a "reasonable" argument that completely disproves the existence of my God. I have however, come up against many arguments that give me cause to question, if you have an argument that is flawless I would genuinely enjoy hearing it.

You are very correct in saying that there are many factors that play a part in the actions that we take, and the lifestyles and childhoods of people condition them to be more acceptable of certain choices. What makes me choose not to kill, my belief in right and wrong, I am perfectly able to chose to go out and kill someone at any time I just make a "choice" not to, thus I believe in "free will."

Every sin is indeed forgivable (except blaspheme against the Holy Spirit), the problem with you're logic is that you expect forgiveness without ever having to ask for it. God will not forgive someone who doesn't ask to be forgiven.

The answer to your question would require a face to face encounter.
There are answers, but it would take some time. From what I understand, free will is not a biological question, because we are born with certain genes that determine who we are, that is determinism. Secondly, the Bible does teach free will. We are warned many times to avoid sin, that points to free will. Third, people choose to accept or reject Jesus, that is also free will. There is no inescapable sin, all sins are forgiveable through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Why did Jesus have to die? Well, God is holy(perfect) and just, He was offended by our sins, thus, He demanded a sacrifice for the sins. If that bothers you, then you'll have to wrestle with God on that one, because He designed it. Just a reminder, God is sovereign so don't expect Him to change just because you don't happen like it

I have noticed this also.. ;) I'm pretty sure most of the population thinks in black and white and doesn't venture into philosiphical thought. Therefore when they take on a black and white issue like to do or not to do, they see a black and white conclusion like good and bad without considering the factors the led to the conclusion or even realizing they have a brain that is considering this stuff for them. I bet the guy who invented the christian religion was a pretty smart cookie, but I feel I could've wrote something just as convincing as I don't think in black and white.

Only a fool would know so much about foolishness........and you surely fit the description of one.....with your obtuse rantings , pompous pious attitude...... and your impious, redundant boasting. I bet your computers in a tree somewhere and you're just beating your chest like all your monkey descendants have done for thousands of years...once you crawled out of that primordial ooze you all are so proud of. Oh and I wrote this of my own free will. If you had any idea of what you are babbling about...did you take your medicine today....you know you can't be on the computer in the nurses station....you'll get those electric shocks again........now lets go back to our little room before you get a big- ole nite-nite shot......did you think you were
Albert Einstein again or was it Darwin ,oh that medication we are going to have to up your meds and give you another one of those cold ice baths, and electric shock treatments....to bad...to to bad

I find it funny that with some fairly easy proofs, free will can be shown to be only an illusion, yet I get tons of thumb downs when I present the proofs... and yet...

no one seems able to refute the proof.

*hm* Ah well. I'm going back to my neural network research now.

maybe they are just not interested enough to want to know more about the brain... Even more interesting is that we learn from the bible and it tells us that the devil will do every thing possible to make us not believe in God...Guess what? Science in my opinion is the devil at work so every thing can be explained either way you look at it either from the science side of things or from the Christian side of things
