long hair is fine when taken care of ... its the dirty looking type that cause inproper comments. and yes .. jesus was a hippie.

It is your society that decided it..first the military, then your working environment (except for artists, musicians and actors) your religion except when you are an Amish, Jewish Monk, Hindu or Sikh,.Jesus was a Jew but the religions that call on his name are not mostly and they have to reverse everything Jewish.
If your parents are straight sorry for you. If they were hippies before maybe you have a chance. You just have look for a place or job that will not mind you having a long hair. The subject of proper depends on where you are.

There is nothing in the Bible saying Jesus had long hair. The typical depiction of him by Catholics shows this, but they've got nothing to base that on.
As as for a scripture to back up this thought about long hair, 1 Corinthians 11:14 says: "Does not nature itself teach YOU that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him;"

The myth that beards and long hair were for criminals is wrong in Jewish history. That may have been true in Rome though. NO ONE is living that physically walked with Jesus! That was over 2 thousand years ago! We don't know what he looked like we only have speculations! It is natural, considering the Jewish culture, to assume that He had a beard though.

Okay, here it is in a nutshell.
Jesus was born in Bethlehem but was raised in Nazareth. The custom of men in Nazareth was to wear there hair short not below the shoulders, not long like pictured in all the paintings. Besides Jesus was not a white guy with blue eyes but Jewish which means he most likely had brown eyes.

The Bible doesn't say anything about how long Jesus' hair was. Men are not supposed to look like women is why long hair is not considered proper in most instances, but in the Bible there were men who took the vow of a Nazirite and they didn't cut their hair.
1 Corinthians 11:14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair it is a disgrace for him, 15 but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering.
Numbers 6:2 "Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When either a man or a woman makes a special vow, the vow of a Nazirite, to separate himself to the LORD, 3 he shall separate himself from wine and strong drink. He shall drink no vinegar made from wine or strong drink and shall not drink any juice of grapes or eat grapes, fresh or dried. 4 All the days of his separation he shall eat nothing that is produced by the grapevine, not even the seeds or the skins. 5 "All the days of his vow of separation, no razor shall touch his head. Who says that long hair is not proper? What is your context here? Yes, Jesus undoubtedly had long hair, based on historical art and the culture he lived in.

I don't tink Jesus had the long hair. I don't think that long hair was proper in Jesus' time.
