Many ADHD meds are stimulants. Ritalin is actually a derivative of caffine. They're popular among college students because they improve concentration even for people who don't have ADHD, and also make it a heck of a lot easier to stay up all night. For that reason, they're controlled substances (that's why your daughter's prescription is presumably not refillable and you have to get a new one every month).

In higher doses, it's basically like speed. However, more often people who don't have ADHD take it at theraputic doses to improve concentration and alertness. At those doses, it's more like illegal super-charged coffee than most recreational drugs.

Many ADD/ADHD medications are stimulants. They fill in the gaps between nerve endings for kids with attention disorders. They can be used to get high by individuals who are not diagnosed with ADHD. You should actually report it to as a theft to the police. If a child is found with a medication prescribed to your child, you could be liable.

It made me feel very, very focused and then I crashed on it about a month into taking it. Wrote some good stuff somewhere in the middle of it though.... :) But you should really, really consider reporting whoever stole your daughter's medicine. They could end up addicted, it could have a bad reaction, it could make them suicidal--all sorts of stuff can go wrong.

Yes, they take it to get high. It's a very stupid thing to do and is quite a problem today. I heard on the news that some college students are selling their ADD meds to others so they'll stay up and study when exams are coming.

Yes, its true. Thats a popular drug on the street with teenagers especially. Its amphetamine which is similar to crystal meth. It will give you more energy and the ability to stay focused. I would personally call the police and atleast report them stolen.
