OK, let's try this question again. Please read carefully. You KNOW she would be happy with EITHER one. She likes practical stuff. She likes fixing things, so she enjoys tools. She's broke and she could use some new socks. And she appreciates the thought behing a gift too. It's all good to her. Say that she would be just as happy whether you buy her flowers or make a homecard or if you got her a nice pipe wrench or some wool socks... what kind of gift would you rather give? So, the question is about YOU. What kinds of gifts do YOU like to give? Do you like picking flowers from the field? Do you like shopping for clothes? Do you like drawing a handmade card? What kind of gifts do YOU like to give?

Hey Mr. gimpalomg, well, since she doesn't have pierced ears, I'm afraid the diamond studs would not go over well! :) She really does like both.

Luis G, I think if she ever threw a gift at me I'd reconsider the relationship.

I like to go shopping with people and ask them to pick out something that they would need or like to have. Tell them you're not Donald Trump, but you can afford a certain amount. If she is too shy to go with you then just get her a gift card for a certain amount at a store that carries all the things she would like. Put it in a very fancy card ( the romance part), and tell her to be sure to spend it on herself. Not her family!

OK Never buy a woman a pipe wrench! I don't care if she is Josephine the plumber. Unless you want this pipe wrench inserted into your cranium or another cavity near the derier.
If you want to get her some wool socks or tools suggest going shopping and buy them for her as you shop. Just say here let me get this for you. Don't act like it's a gift. It's just you being nice.
If you are getting a gift for a woman always get a romantic gift. Flowers a card with the flowers.I never make my own cards because I don't have that skill. Jewelry that is simple and delicate pearls are nice. I don't care if your woman is a 350 pound Samoan get her something pretty. Women want to feel like women. They all want to be Cinerella at the Ball. Even if they are Gay. I wouldn't suggest dating a gay woman unless you are one.
Watch out with perfume unless you know the scent she wants.
How do I know?
I bought my future wife shoes because I thought she needed them. She threw them at me as she screamed shoes?!!!! You bought me shoes!!!!!? Eighteen years later we discovered she was gay. Still she wanted a pretty pearl ring at that time. So if you don't want that pipe wrench to come crashing down on your head, I suggest romantic.

coming from a girl who likes both practical and romantic gifts..I'd say try and find something that is both practical and romantic. Something that she needs like socks can be romantic if you buy her socks and give her a foot rub. Do something that is special for both of you when you give her the gift. Something can be both practical and romantic depending on the presentation of the gift. I don't know what the situation is that you're getting her something. But there are a lot of ways to make something practical romantic...and even something romantic practical.

With all due respect, she APPEARS to like practical stuff. If your woman is truly like you say, she is one in over a million.

Trust me, a set of diamond studs will trump a set of pipe wrenches even if they are Rigid Brand.

BUT, even if I believed she was exactly as you say she is, I would still go romantic. A diamond is more fun to look at in front of a fireplace than even a Milwaukee Sidewinder.

And I don't believe she is as you say. I believe you believe, but I don't believe.

I had a practical girlfriend and a romantic one. There must be something that she liked BEST. If not, try to give according to the event. For example you would not give her a tool wrench on valentine's day.

It totally depends on who SHE is. My sister? My mom? My Aunt Tessie? Depends on her sense of humor or her immediate need. Although you took up a lot of space, the question is still vague. People deserve more thought than some generic answer.
