OUCH...first off, get your burn in cold water. Ice cold water can cause damage, so it doesn't have to be "freezing", just cool like 50 degrees..a few ice cubes, not a ton.
NEVER put butter on a burn. That'll give you an infection for sure.
Don't use any foreign substances on big burns. IF your finger is just "red" or "pink", keep it under the cold water for 15 minutes or more and then cover it with a clean dry dressing. You can wrap it in a clean towel if you need to, as long as it's soft.

If your burn develops blisters, DON'T POP THEM, you could get an infection. Just cover them with a clean dry dressing and leave them alone.

If your burn is not major, you can use that Neosporin..but be careful

Call your doctor.

Plunge it in ice-cold water FAST! It will stop the 'cooking' of the skin. The severity of the burn will depend on how long the finger was in the water and how quickly you got to the cold water. Next thing is to cover it and keep it covered for a good while.

After that you'll see the results - difficult to say what they will be, as burns vary depending on how long was the exposure to the heat.
