how long would it be before the ACLU would back off and the stores would wish us a Merry Christmas? Without Christ there is no reason for this holiday. Instead: A HOLY day for us.

All people should remember that it's not OUR birthday we are celebrating and behave themselves accordingly.

Yes, I fully agree with se7en...the Christian "Christmas" has pre-christian roots in the pagan celebration of Yule, which was traditionally celebrated on December 22nd. Pope Gregory I ordered his minions to create holidays close to those of the Pagans to allow for easier conversion of Pagans to Christianity. This is true for what has become Halloween (the pagan holiday of Samhain), as well as Easter (the pagan holiday of Ostara). So even complaining that commercialization of "The Christmas Season" is destroying the sanctity of Jesus Christ is backward and I encourage the rethinking of your methods...maybe neopagans should strike back and emblazon inverted pentagrams on the foreheads of all nativity statuary, since it was their holiday in the first place.

I am a Christian, but know December is not the month in which Jesus was born because the harvest is much earlier than December. It is not a Holy Day for me. I am certain the ACLU would still not back off from their stand against religion and religious holidays regardless of the retailers. They are that set against God.

Christ wasn't born in December

good luck with that--christians comprise the greediest sector of our society--god help them if they don't use their "lord's" b-day as an excuse to buy a new vehicle and spoil their spawn with every expensive toy on the market--they HAVE to have a new christmas wardrobe--get real--even Xians don't care about X on Xmas

Yeah - that way you could pretty much force other people to use the word Christmas! Sounds like a real positive witnessing tool...a sure way to get others to be interested in a God of Love.

it's a pagan holiday, Hon. the jesus-myth wasn't born anywhere near Dec 25, according to bible-cult legend. so relax.

it was the christians who hijacked the holiday, not the other way around. so, stop acting like there's some sort of christian ownership, and go buy your candy-canes.

But what about the Easter Bunny? Is nothing sacred?

Oh, you mean give it back to the pagans? I'm sure they'll be appreciative.
