After doing some checking around, I found that the UNDEREPORTED DEATH TOLL IN IRAQ of Iraqi civilians - according to the John Hopskins survey and a report by USA TODAY, claims that at least 600,000 Iraqi CIVILIANS (not military) have been killed by the IRaq War (2003 - onwards).
http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/...
This number is an estimate, however, John Hopskins places this number at 655,000 and there is belief that number is lower than the actual figure.
It has also been reported by the Army Intelligence in Iraq that 1.5 million people (at least) have FLED Iraq (i.e. refugeed) to neighboring countries to escape the violence.
There is also date indicating that at least 100,000 people are now homeless in Iraq.
This is on top of the Army data shown in the recently released N.I. E (national intelligence estimate) which (though several months old) claims there truly is an attack on American troops every 15 minute

COULD THE IRAQI PEOPLE HAVE DEALT WITHOUT AMERICAN "Liberation"?
You mean to tell me the best "PLAN" we have for these people whose lives we have destroyed is to split them up into 3 distinct groups by region and draft a constitution to SHARE THE OIL?
I hope all of you who lost a loved one in Iraq understand that Donald Rumsfeld has stated that AMNESTY will become neccessary - to be given to the killers of our young American soldiers - simply because it is physically impossible to go door to door and kill or capture every single insurgent.
This is where Bush has led America.
WOULD I LIKE IT IF SADDAM WAS STILL IN POWER?
The answer is a resounding YES!

America did a good job with removing Saddam (something that the papa Bush should have done but chickened out). The reason is that Saddam was supported with US money and the US was responsible for jailing their little monster.
The current mess up in Iraq is due to the total inability of the Iraqis to self govern: they have no established middle class and no democratic tradition and the failure of the US administration (to busy distributing contracts among friends) to even contemplate serious reconstruction efforts with some long term foresight.

Saddam Hussein was evil to the Iraqis but vital for the free world to remain in power because he was a deterent to Iran. Look what Iran is now doing, tweeking its' nose about its' nuclear power and Bush or the United Nation cannot do anything about it. Same goes for North Korea. It has been proven that Iraq did not have WMD and did not assist the Al-Queda. Invading Iraq instead of keeping close eye of it depleted the US military to threaten Iraq or North Korea. Both countries may not use nuclear weapons themselves but will most certainly sell those weapons to anyone with the right amount of dollars.

No doubt that Saddam is an evil person who doesn't deserve to be alive and I'm glad the US military did it's job which was to get him out of power (which they did very well). But that should have been it, they all should have come home after they captured Saddam and then let the Iraqi Shia (the Majority in Iraq) wipe out the Sunni Iraqi Bathists (today's insurgents) & the Sunni Al Qaeda both of which the Iraqi Shia hate. Would this have been a bloody war, yes, but at least no US soldiers would be dying and the Iraqi Shia wouldn't let Al Qaeda set up shop in the new Iraqi Shia nation. No democracy but who the heck cares, there's only ONE democracy in the Middle East & that's Israel.

If the DoD (particularly Rumsfeld) would have listened to the State Department planners as to the importance of a plan for also REBUILDING IRAQ (instead of just 'liberating' it) Iraq might not be doomed (as you assert). However, if you read articles such as 'What Went Wrong in Iraq' (do a search) you will quickly see that we were not ready to 'build the peace' or 'rebuild the country' (something that we aren't necessarily good at anyways - see Bosnia) - the DoD squelched all the plans that included this facet.
It is therefore important that we recognize - Democrats AND Republicans - that it is time for Rumsfeld to go. Iraq is a failure, and he is significantly to blame.

My god man, do you not recognize that 655,000 Iraqi are now liberated. Of course the surviving family's have to suffer through this stupid war. All based on a lie that George Bush told the American people. He should be in jail.

Many Americans, myself included, spoke out long, strong, and loud against the Bush invasion of Iraq. Yet, we are collectively culpable for torturing to death dozens of innocent people, for disappearing innocent people off the streets of foreign countries and sending them to Syria (our enemy?) for torture, for setting back human rights worldwide.
We are collectively culpable for the looting of the antiquities of humankind, the utter destruction of the iraqi infrastructure, the unleashing of sectarian violence, the dropping of bombs on civilian neighborhoods, on little girls eating lunch with grandma and grandpa, the intentional murder of several members of the media, including the targeting of reporters in a hotel room, and, of course, the deaths of tens of thousands of people. We've liberated them from their lives, as it were.
It is heartbreaking and deeply disturbing that there were Americans cheering for this wanton evil like it was a football game. Expressions of empathy for other humans was derided by these sociopaths - for what else are they? - as weak, naive, or even traiterous.
A terrible thing was unleashed in our country. We've not done the damage of the Nazis - yet, and never i ferverently hope - but we have collectively allowed, committed, and paid for a great evil.
Will we be mature enough to face this? We have faced our evil in the past - slavery, jim crow, child labor, the company store, the murder of marching union steel workers.
But, judging from the thumbs down that typically greet an honest description of what America has been doing of late, I fear for our ability to face what we've done.
Or, maybe it's only ever a few that really get it and they drag the others along kicking and screaming and donning their klan robes like security blankets.

The situation is deplorable and Bush is not doing enough to correct it. But the problems of that area have existed for centuries and won't improve soon.

That is crazy man! Wow. We went to war after 9-11 and some people lost their lives. Check this... Some would have you believe that pacifism is the best way to avoid conflict. I disagree. There are people in this world who want to kill us just for being Americans. It started long before George Bush took office and it will continue long after he leaves. For once, we have a president who is willing to ignore polls and popularity contests to do what’s necessary: protect Americans at all costs and do it on the enemy’s turf. Bush is being crucified for trying to defend America – your freedom, your right to prosper, your right to agree or disagree, yet he will be quickly shredded for not doing enough if we sustain another attack. It’s a double standard, a double edged sword – a lose-lose prospect for our president. It’s hypocrisy pure and simple. Islamic extremism has one goal: the extermination of anyone who doesn’t subscribe to their religion. You can’t reason with people who strap bombs on children and believe death is a blessing.
