I hope this helps. Check out the link below!
My sister use to french braid my hair all the time. But I don't know how.

This excellent classic braiding book from Patricia Coen actually includes detailed illustrations that I am not able to include because of copyright restrictions.
Place your thumbs above and slightly behind your ears. Draw them slightly back and upward, gathering hair that meets at your crown into a ponytail. Don't anchor it.
Fashion one English plait, crossing the left strand over the center so that the two strands trade places, then the right strand over the center so that those two strands trade places.
Hold the plait in your right hand, separating the three loose strands below it with your fingers. Place your left thumb above and behind your left ear and use it to draw a strand half as thick as one of the original strands towards the ponytail.
Add the newly gathered hair to the left strand and cross this increased strand over the center, taking the center strand to the left as in ordinary English braiding.

Continue gathering hair from the left and right and adding it to the strands just before you cross them over the center.
After several plaits, there will be no loose hair left to gather.
English-braid the remaining strands and fasten the end of the braid with a covered band.

Instructions
STEP 1: Begin by applying a styling gel, mousse or pomade to clean, damp hair and blow drying the hair as smooth as possible. A french braid in hair that hasn’t been washed that day and already has hair products in it also works well.
STEP 2: Remove tangles from hair before beginning the french braid. Take a 3-inch-long by 1-inch-wide section of hair just above the forehead or behind the individual's bangs.
STEP 3: Divide the section into three even pieces. Place the left section between the left index finger and thumb, place the right section between the right index finger and thumb, and let the middle section lie flat against the head. Pull the right section over the middle section and deposit it between the left index and middle fingers. This will begin to form your french braid.
STEP 4: Lead with the right middle finger and cut about a 1-inch-wide section of hair straight across the head, starting at the hairline and moving toward the middle section. Collect the middle section and pull all of the hair tight. The line of hair you collected for your french braid should lie flat and smooth.
STEP 5: Twist your left hand clockwise and move the section in between your left index and middle fingers to your right index and middle fingers. Pull the sections in your right hand and let the section in your left hand go.
STEP 6: Lead with the left middle finger and cut about a 1-inch-wide section of hair straight across the head, starting at the hairline and moving toward the dangling section. Scoop up the dangling section and pull this now-bigger section to the left, hooking it with your middle finger. Continue to make sure each section of your french braid is smooth and has equal tension on it for a uniform look.
STEP 7: Twist your right hand counterclockwise. Extend the left index finger and hook the section of hair between the right index and middle fingers. Pull it to the left and let the section in your right hand dangle.
STEP 8: Continue the slice, twist and shift process until the entire french braid is complete. Remember to always hook the section of hair between the index and middle fingers, not the thumb and index finger. Keep the tension taut but not too tight.
STEP 9: Braid a tail when you've come to the base of the neck, and tie off the ends with a covered rubber band. Add a bow or barrette when appropriate, or hide the tail by tucking it under the shaft of the french braid. Fix with a bobby pin or two.

You start out with a small section of hair, divided into 3 sections, and you do 1 full braid (meaning, you put the first one over the middle one, and the last one over the first one, one time).
Each time you go to do a braid again, you add hair to the end two sections.

3-Strand French Braid
There are several kinds of braids in which you pick up more hair and add it to the braid as you work. When the new hair is brought up and over the braid when it is added, it is a french braid.
The three strand braid is the most basic braid, and the form most commonly known. Because familiarity brings comfort and skill, the french braid that I will explain is a simple 3-strand.
Terms to Know:
To cut out wordiness, I have decided to name the webbed area between the fingers.
Slot 1 is between the thumb and index fingers.
Slot 2 is between the index and middle fingers.
Slot 3 is between the middle and ring fingers.
Slot 4 is between the ring and little fingers.
Right and left hands will be denoted by a capital R or L after the slot number. For example, 1R is between the thumb and index finger of the right hand.
Directions:
Separate a lock of hair from the rest of the hair at the place where you want to begin the braid.
Put the lock of hair in your left hand.
Insert the index and middle finger of your right hand through the lock, going from underneath to the surface, separating the lock into three strands.
Use your left hand to separate the strands out to the end of the hair.
Put the strand on the left into slot 1L, palm up.
Rotate your right hand palm down and put the strand from slot 1R into either slot 2 or 3L.
Move the strand in your right hand into slot 1R.
Rotate your left hand palm down and put the strand from slot 1L into either slot 2 or 3R.
Move the strand in your left hand into slot 1L.
Move the strand from slot 2 (or 3)R to slot 2L.
Move the strand from slot 1R into slot 3L.
Use your right hand to gather another section of hair.
Add the new strand of hair to the strand in slot 3L.
Move the newly combined strand to slot 1R.
Move the middle strand (in slot 2L) to slot 2R.
Rotate your right hand palm down and put the strand from slot 1R into slot 2L.
Move the strands into your right hand (strand remaining in right hand moves to slot 1R, strand in slot 2L moves to slot 2R, strand from slot 1L moves to slot 3R.)
Use your left hand to gather another section of hair.
Add the new section of hair to the strand in slot 3R.
Rearrange the strands as necessary and continue braiding as shown.
Tie off the end with a rubber band or other fastener.
