So many people say they are the son of Abraham how do they know that. Did they keep a genology from then until today?

Some variation in actual dates but mostly around 2100 BC
Yes the Bible kept a very accurate record of the descendants of Abraham, right down to the days of Jesus. After that it has been pretty accurately handled by the Jewish people. Abraham also has children of faith. He is called in the Bible the Father of all those who believe by faith. So if you are a person of faith in God, you are one of Abraham's spiritual family, and you don't need to link to him by race. That is probably what those are who have told you they are sons of Abraham.

Most scholars believe Abraham lived somewhere around 2200 BC. I can't tell you for sure whether or not there are genealogies from then to today (not being Jewish or Arabic myself), but I do know that the complete genealogical record from Adam to Jesus is included in the Bible(which if Abraham did live around 2200 BC would be roughly 3800 years). Therefore it is possible that the Jewish or Arabic people kept records up until today's time.

Abraham lived ca. 2000--1800 BC.

Christians consider themselves children of Abraham in a spiritual, but not a literal sense, based on Galatians 3:6--9, and other passages:

6 Consider Abraham: "He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." 7 Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. 8 The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you." 9 So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

I am not sure whether Abraham walked the earth but I know he resided somewhere in the land of Ur. Abraham was a man of faith in the Lord.

Genesis 25:7
And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.
So that means he was 175 when he died.

If ye be Christ's, you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise. The Bible actually has a geneology from Adam to Christ.
