put the +00 code before the country code.

i wouldn't advise it tho. i had a girlfriend in new zealand once and it cost me a fortune in calls.

use a swift call card instead.

To direct dial from a landline, first do "00" for international, then "61" for Australia.
If you're dialing a landline, the next digit will be a SINGLE DIGIT area code, that is, the area code without the "0". Then you put in the 8 digit phone number.
'Almost' the same for dialing a mobile, except there is no area code and you omit the first "0" in the phone number.
You can do this much cheaper if you first buy a phone card and start with the local phone number of the card provider. The provider then uses the internet for the connection at a cost to you of about a cent a minute.

Just call the number with the code, and accept the huge bill.
