She may be licking up crumbs or she may have justed expressed her anal glands on your floor (if you smell the area you will note a foul odor) for some reason dogs like to lick up the remander of this substance from the area (may be to try to get rid of the offending odor).

Well he could be peeing on the chair because he smells another animal and wants to mark his terriotry or he has a unirary infection of some sort. I'd take him to the vet. And the licking of the capet, you could have dropped something on the carpet or there is a salty taste to it. I know that my cats will lick the couch, because they can taste salt or something taste good there.

As Homer might say ... Yum, Carpet!
Seriously though, something was likely spilled on those spots and your pet likes the aroma. I would guess it is normal.
That, or they were a carPET installer in another life. (Sorry)!
Dogs can notice things that people can't. Be it a smell or a sight (They only see black and white)
A friend of mine has a dog who has a thing for socks and underware!!! Likes to steal them from a room and, well, he doesn't wear them, but likes to chew on them!
Dogs! Go figure! Time to speak with The Dog Whisperer, me thinks.
Blessings,

my dog used to lick the floor or the walls.. When I told her vet she told me it could be from lack of Iron. I would have her get a blood test and see how her iron is doing. U might just need to give her iron suppliments

My male scottie does the same thing. He has a nervous condition and a sensitive stomach. Your dogs tummy may be upset, she may be bored, she just may love to taste things. Best bet is to ask your vet. There could be some medical problem behind it too.

My dog does this as well. Not to worry. He/She is feeling a little stressed/bored. Get some new toys and walk a little more. He/She should be fine. See your vet just to make sure.

I would say that there is probably ground in food in it. If it bothers you, I would rent a carpet ceaner to remove all the food.

my dog does this too, and sometimes my cat will.
i think it has something to do with getting a taste off of their mouth... or maybe just to see what the floor tastes like, or maybe its like a tongue massage lol.
