what does being a 20 year old motor have to do with anything? my Z24 motor had 40k miles on it when i parted it out this year. he said it was a 1986, he didnt say how many miles were on it.

you didnt mention if it was carbed or throttle body injection.

if it was carbed, you could try a set of Weber side draft carbs.
also a header from Doug Thorleys, a high flow catalytic convertor, performance exhaust, camshaft, and a Jim Wolf tune on the ECM.

best bang for your buck would be to swap in a SR20DET motor.

Twenty year old motors like to be left alone. In a couple months your truck will be legal drinking age. That means if you even so much attempt to make more power your wallet will be drunk dricken sucked dry! How about a ford 5.0 engine and T-5 transmission? Or buy a new 4.0 liter frontier truck with 265 horsepower warranty and climate control and four doors?

I did not like the Ford/Mazda rubber timing belt on the 4 cyl. so choose Nissan. Ford 3. and 4.L v6 have problems with head gaskets. Toyota is your best bet, as Nissan makes its engines in Mexico.

Agree with Bear, Bosch +4 sparks make a big diff. I've also been anxious to try HyperVoltage and HyperGround from Sun.
